giving thanks

Hello all! I hope everyone who celebrates enjoyed their Thanksgiving. It was a pretty laid back day in our household. It was just Jason and I for the holiday. We visited my family for Thanksgiving last year, and his family for Christmas, so this year we're going to my parents' house for Christmas. I had suggested South Carolina (where his family resides) for Thanksgiving, but it's his brother's family we would celebrate with, and they do Thanksgiving with his sister-in-law's parents. Understandably, Jason thought that would be too awkward, so we stayed put. Jason kept telling me we didn't need to eat anything special for Thanksgiving and even suggested pizza at one point. But that thought was just far too depressing to me, so I found some Thanksgiving recipes for two and we had a small Thanksgiving meal. It consisted of some baked turkey breast tenderloins, twice baked sweet potatoes, a cranberry spinach salad, rolls and pumpkin cupcakes. I slightly overcooked the turkey, so it was too dry in my opinion, but Jason seemed to like it. (In all honesty, I kind of hate turkey.) But everything else was very good, so I was quite pleased. I made the meal, and Jason did the dishes, which thrilled me to no end. I don't think I've ever seen my dad do dishes - like, not even put a dish in the dishwasher - so I am pleased to have a husband who is willing to help. I think it's a benefit of getting married to an older man who had to fend for himself for many years before we got married.

Other than that, we just chilled all day, working on a puzzle and watching the first four episodes of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon. If you have Amazon Prime, you can stream all ten episodes now, and I highly recommend it. Today I am enjoying a day at home alone. I have the day off, but Jason does not. I feel a little bad since it's cold and icy outside and he's a bit sick, but he had Veteran's Day off and I did not so we're even. I did have plans to leave the house to visit the grocery store, but I had a text from Jason this morning telling me that he'd made it to work. It then said, "The neighborhood roads are pretty bad. I'll pick up the towels and coffee on my way home." So I took that to mean he doesn't want me to leave the house. Well okay then, I'll be lazy if I must.
