23. Write a pairing you've never written before

Sehun never expected it to get so far. He didn’t think it would be something serious - he was drunk, Yixing was drunk and they both needed some comfort. He had never expected to kiss Yixing out of everyone on his group of friends - and he was sure Yixing felt the same - but they were both too drunk to think about that matter.

It all had begun a few weeks before, at Baekhyun’s birthday. They had dinner with their group of friends and they decided to go out, as everyone - except for Sehun - was already legal and allowed to drink.

The younger didn’t really care. No one asked how old he was because he seemed pretty mature for his age and what the owners really wanted was to sell. He would never drink too much, even if he already had some hangovers in the past. He was perfectly able to control himself while drinking.

However, that wasn’t the case with most of his friends. Jongin and Lu Han were drinking buddies and the amount of times he had to call someone to help them was countless. He couldn’t say it was totally bad for them, since they had confessed to each other on one of those drunken nights. Baekhyun and Chanyeol didn’t know when to stop and they would often end up making out in the bathroom of a bar, just to deny what happened the following day. Even Joonmyun and Minseok, the most controlled members of the group, would like to drink a little bit more than what they should, once in a while.

But Yixing wasn’t very fond of drinking. He would usually stay quiet and drink something without alcohol, rolling his eyes at what his friends would end up doing while drunk. He was also the one to help Sehun with the rest of the group when they had too much fun. Sehun really appreciated Yixing’s presence, even if they weren’t very close.

It was quite ironic, since Yixing’s best friend was Lu Han and Sehun’s best friend was Jongin. Jongin and Lu Han had always been close and they were dating. But it seemed to have some kind of barrier between the Chinese and the Korean. It could be because of their shy personalities. They were both quiet and they didn’t enjoy talking and being loud. But they knew they could help each other when needed, which was better than nothing.

However, that night had started differently and it ended differently. Yixing had been talkative and he had laughed more than Chanyeol, the smile of the group. Everyone was surprised but no one had questioned it, assuming he was just in an exceptional extremely good mood.

Sehun didn’t believe that - and Lu Han didn’t believe it either, since he had spent the whole dinner looking at him worriedly. He had known Yixing for three years and he had never seen him behave like that, even when he was happy. Lu Han was his friend since childhood and it took it a lot for him to get worried, which made Sehun even more suspicious about his behavior.

The younger worried even more when, after dinner, he was the first one to insist on going out for a drink. The Chinese didn’t enjoy bars and its environment, much less drinking or smoking. Once again, no one besides Lu Han seemed to question the sudden change in his behavior and they just agreed, making Yixing smile - a smile that Sehun had never seen on him. It looked almost provocative.

As they arrived to the bar, Baekhyun was the first one to ask for drinks, paying it as it was his birthday. The first shot was followed by a great amount of others and a mixture of several drinks. No one seemed willing to stop.

“Hey, Sehun, do you want to get out of here?” Yixing whispered to the younger, clearly drunk. “I’m sick of being here with them.”

“Sure,” Sehun replied, not as drunk but out of his normal state. He was finding it hard to stay there. Yixing pulled him in the direction of the door but no one seemed to notice. “Shouldn’t we warn them?” He asked.

“They don’t give a fuck, Sehun,” the other answered bitterly and Sehun couldn’t help but think he was talking about one person in particular. “Let’s go to the park, it’s pretty there,” he added, not letting go of Sehun’s hand.

The walked in silence, which would possibly be awkward if they were sober, since they were holding hands and they would never do that with each other on a normal occasion. As they arrived to the park, Yixing immediately laid down on the grass, looking at the sky, and Sehun laid down next to him, not bothering with the fact that it was wet.

“Do you know, I’ve always liked Lu Han,” the older male started, swinging slightly. “I mean, I’m happy for him and Jongin, I really am. I know he can make Lu Han happier than I’ve ever could in those years of friendship. But-“ his voice cracked and Sehun was sure he was trying not to cry. “It hurts. It fucking hurts, Sehun, because I love him.”

“I get what you feel,” Sehun said sympathetic. “Jongin and I were more than friends, do you know? Fucking buddies, friends with benefits, whatever you want to call it,” he explained. “Our Summer was quite fun, I have to tell you,” he laughed mockingly, like if he was making fun of himself. “Then he started dating Lu Han when the school started and I just feel apart. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. He wouldn’t stop talking about Lu Han. I was just a substitute for him. And I was fine with it at first.”

“But then you feel in love, right?” Yixing asked. Sehun knew he didn’t need to answer. “It sucks, doesn’t it?”

“It does. We’re theirs best friends. We’re supposed to be happy and celebrating. But I can’t even stand being with them.”

“Is that why you distanced yourself from us? You’ve been hanging out with us a lot less. Jongin was worried; he even talked to me,” Yixing said. “Maybe I should do the same.”

“You can always hang out with me,” Sehun suggested. “We can complain to each other about how miserable our life is and about our unrequited love,” he added, making the older laugh. “I’m totally serious. I might be drunk but I’d love to spend more time with you.”

“Do you want to know something? I’ve always wanted to talk more to you, I just didn’t knew how,” the other confessed, looking into Sehun’s eyes, making him feel a sudden urge to kiss him. “I like you a lot. I think you are a better dancer than Jongin and your voice is nice to hear,” he continued. “I think I want to kiss you right now.”

“I want to kiss you right now too.”

Sehun barely had time to process what was happening as Yixing was on top of him and his lips were on Sehun’s and he desperately tried to get more contact. Sehun closed his eyes and let Yixing’s tongue enter his mouth, kissing him passionately. The younger pulled him as close as he could, feeling the other male’s body closer to him as possible. Yixing took that as a way to tell him it was okay to go further and he attacked the younger’s neck, kissing and biting, making him moan.

“Oh, fuck, Yixing, are we really doing this?” He asked, somewhat scared, somewhat excited. He could feel the adrenaline on his body.

“If you really want to. I don’t want you to regret it later,” Yixing answered, kissing him again, this time with more care. It was almost like Jongin’s kisses, which had made the younger fall in love with him. It hurt and it made him kiss back, angrily.

“Right now, I want you to shut the fuck up.”

Yixing didn’t need to hear it again. They were kissing each other again and Sehun tried to take off Yixing’s sweatshit. However, the older male stopped him.

“You don’t really want this. I know it. I also don’t. We are just drunk and needy,” Yixing said. “I think it’d be better if we cried instead of having sex.”

“You are a jerk,” Sehun burst into tears, punching Yixing on the chest. The older boy didn’t complain. “It would be way easier if you fucked me. Maybe I could finally forget about him. Maybe I could finally forget about having his body against mine. Maybe I could stop thinking about his hands on my body. Maybe I could stop feeling his kisses all over the place. It seems like he burned me where he touched because I can’t stop feeling it,” he continued.

Yixing was silent, letting him get it out. At least he had never had the chance to have a taste of how it would be like to have Lu Han. Sehun had Jongin and he had lost it. He couldn’t imagine how it felt.

“Maybe I could finally forget how hard it was to hear Lu Han’s name instead of mine. He didn’t even care about me anymore, Yixing. I was just someone he could fuck whenever he felt like doing it,” the younger laughed.

“You’re way more than that, Sehun. You’re his best friend,” Yixing stated, getting another laugh from the younger. “He loves you.”

“He loves Lu Han more,” Sehun said.

Both were interrupted by Sehun’s phone. He picked it up; he looked at the name on the screen and hesitated for a few seconds before answering.

“Yes, Jongin?” He started, trying his hardest not to make him notice he wasn’t okay. “I’m with Yixing, yes. Tell Lu Han not to worry,” he continued, making Yixing feel, somewhat happy. Lu Han was worried. “I’m fine,” he replied. “No, I’m not crying. Why would I?” He asked, faking a laugh. “We’ll meet you in five minutes. Bye.”

“What did he say?” Yixing asked.

“He told us to meet them. Apparently they are bored there,” Sehun said. “Do you want to sleep over at my house? I’m pretty sure Jongin’s taking Lu Han to his house, since his parents are gone and I don’t feel like going with them.”

“Sure.”

Both got up and started walking in the direction of the bar. Once again, they were holding hands and the surprised look on Jongin and Lu Han’s faces was extremely hilarious to see for the other two.

“I’m not even going to ask what we interrupted,” Jongin said. Sehun could feel he was hurt and he couldn’t figure out why. “You could have told me, Sehun-ah,” he tried to joke, cracking a smile.

“We can always continue this later, right, Sehun?” Yixing retorted in a harsh tone, like if he was attacking Jongin. “I’m pretty sure I can take care of him better than certain people.”

“Are you sure? Because I don’t think that’s true,” the younger attacked back, stepping forward. Lu Han pulled him back, looking confused and worried. “But I’m not going to argue with you. Have fun,” he finished, angrily looking at Sehun and Yixing, before walking away, followed by Lu Han.

“You didn’t need to do that, do you know?” Sehun stated. “But thank you,” he smiled, giving a quick kiss to Yixing, making him smile back. “Do you still want to go to my house?”

“Of course I want. You can’t back off now.”

The next day had been awkward, to say the least. Sehun and Yixing had woken up around noon, with a massive hangover, half-naked and hugging each other. The younger blushed and almost jumped off the bed and the Chinese left the house after having lunch.

Since that day, they would avoid each other as much as they could, which wasn’t easy. It seemed like the universe wanted them to bump into each other every five minutes. Even Jongdae, one of their mutual friends, that would usually be unaware of things that happened with the group, had already figured out that something was going on between both of them.

Sehun didn’t like it at all. He was avoiding Yixing because he didn’t know how to deal with the situation but he couldn’t stop thinking about the older boy. And that was why he was the first one to approach him, after weeks without talking.

It was Saturday and after having lunch, he got out of home and walked to Yixing’s house. He was received by his mother, who was always extremely nice to all of his friends, and after exchanging a few words, he went upstairs to talk to Yixing.

He took a deep breath before knocking the door and after a few seconds the older was in front of him, with an incredulous expression.

“Sehun? What are you doing here?” Yixing asked, giving him permission to enter his room. The younger entered his room and sat down on his bed. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Aren’t you going to sit down?” Yixing had closed the door and had stood there, like if he didn’t want to get closer to Sehun. “I just came to apologize for avoiding you, I guess. I didn’t know how to deal with what happened - I still don’t know. But, I miss you, which is weird because I never missed you before.”

“I miss you too. And I’m sorry for avoiding you too. I was feeling the same and you didn’t seem eager to talk, so I just kept quiet,” Yixing confessed. “What do you want to do? We’ll be friends or what?”

“I really don’t know, Yixing. I liked kissing you but we weren’t really close before so it’s kind of strange to be in this situation.”

“Well, both of us liked kissing each other. And I think we both like each other at least a bit. We could try something, do you know?” Yixing suggested nervously. “If you don’t want, I’m okay with it, it’s just-“

“Okay,” Sehun said, interrupting Yixing’s speech. “We can be like friends with benefits or something. We don’t need to get into something serious yet. I mean, we are attracted to each other but it can be just a physical thing and, yeah, it’s probably better to take it slow.”

“Okay. So, we’re like kind of boyfriends, now?”

“Yeah, I guess. But we can tell people we’re dating because that’s easier to explain,” Sehun replied. “If you want, of course,” he added, feeling embarrassed. “It’s all up to you.”

“I wouldn’t make the suggestion if I didn’t want to date you,” Yixing answered, smiling. Sehun was pretty sure his smile was more beautiful that Jongin’s. “Can I kiss my boyfriend?” He asked, making Sehun smile too.

“Sure. You don’t need to ask, do you know?”

Yixing walked in Sehun’s direction and he lowered himself, to be face to face with Sehun. He kissed him slowly and passionately, without any other intention besides making Sehun feel happy.

“I think I might fall in love with you, if things keep going like this,” Sehun said, as they broke the kiss. “I’m enjoying it way more than I should.”

“The feeling is mutual. I think I might have been a little bit in love with you since the beginning and I just didn’t knew,” Yixing teased, making the younger laugh. “Do you think Jongin will be okay with this?” He asked, making Sehun’s smile fade. “He seemed pretty worked up that night and I felt like he was going to kill me if we were alone for more than five minutes.”

“I don’t care, Yixing,” Sehun sighed. “He had his chance. I’m not going to waste this with you just because of him.”

“I’m sorry; I’m just making sure this will be okay. I don’t want to be responsible for anything that can happen with your friendship,” the Chinese boy said, pecking the younger’s lips. “I just want to make sure we can make this work.”

“Won’t Lu Han be mad I stole you?” Sehun asked. “You are pretty close. I’m sure he’ll be jealous of the time we’ll spend together, from now on.”

“I can balance the two things. And he’ll understand. He might get a little bit jealous but he’ll support us,” Yixing assured the other boy. “Now, what about a date? I think that’s a good way to start our relationship.”

“I agree. Where are you taking me?” Sehun asked.

“I’m all yours today, so, I’ll take you wherever you want,” the other responded. “Well, anywhere as long as it’s not too expensive. I’m a broke high school student, don’t forget.”

“I think we could buy an ice cream and eat it at the park. What do you think?”

“That’s an excellent idea.”
