So, I know the exact locations of two Robins' nests, and I'm pretty sure where the Cardinals have nested, although I prolly won't ever find it exactly. So, I've briefly seen Goldfinches shooting past the window twice today. I suspect they're hitting the tube feeder, which is a generic one I've more or less optimized for Sparrows, although everyone's welcome. I'm tempted to put up a specialized Finch feeder. Small Sparrow army out sparrowing away at the cake feeder yesterday afternoon, although it was really too dark and grey for photography. Two of the dominant hens sat on top of the cake, without any obvious friction or pecking order issues, and they pecked away at it, eating, but also sending down a steady hail of fragments to the dozen or so birds ( Read more... )
