Not exactly word for word an autobiography, but close. As far as the religious part goes: I do consider myself Catholic. I believe in God. I don't believe the Bible word for word. I'm not entirely convinced there's a kingdom in the clouds where we go if we're good and a bonfire underground where we go if we're bad. But I'm not entirely convinced there isn't. Everything else in this song is pretty accurately me and are all things I think now or have thought at one time or another. However, it's not so much a song about me as it is about doing what makes you happy, being true to yourself, and enjoying this planet we call home.
Well I'm just
A simple guy
I like sitting under palm trees
And watching birds fly by
I like to sit
Down at the shore
Let the waves crash around me
And wash away my sores
I like watching
The stars at night
Stare into the dark sky
And watch the sun come up
I'm not a super
Adventurous one
But I'll do most anything
In the name of fun
In the name of fun
From the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall
Down through the City of Lights
Climbing Everest and in the emptiness
Snow blinded by the white
Sailing the Grand Canal or in Venice now
As Panama joins the fight
Such a beautiful world we're living in
Won't you dance through it tonight
Dance with me tonight
I'm not much
Of a religious guy
But I'm a man of faith
And I believe Jesus cried
But if you are
Pray at church instead
And may your soul wind up end Heaven
Before the devil knows you're dead
And I'm not much
Of a political guy
I don't like to spend my time
Listening to people lie
And I don't care
Much to be P.C.
It's a hypocritical concept
And they're scamming to make money
Scams to take money
I'd love to lead
An easy life
There's no such thing
But forever I will try
I try to be
An all around
Good, honest person
That would make my parents proud
And I'd like
To travel all around
Take in all the sights
Find some place to settle down
New York's great
And California's warm
I'd even live in Jersey
But for now Boston, you're my home
Boston, you're my home
From the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall
Down through the City of Lights
Climbing Everest and in the emptiness
Snow blinded by the white
Sailing the Grand Canal or in Venice now
No end to bliss in sight
Such a beautiful world we're living in
Won't you dance through it tonight
Dance with me tonight
Take it all in some time
Take it all in some time
From the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall
Down through the City of Lights
Climbing Everest and in the emptiness
Snow blinded by the white
Sailing the Grand Canal or in Venice now
And the Riddeau, it's alright
Such a beautiful world we're living in
Won't you dance through it tonight
Dance with me tonight
life,
happiness,
