Wait For You - 4:28

You can't explain love. No one can. There have been hundreds of movies and books and songs written about it. A very common theme among Shakespeare's works is unrequited love, but the most honest thing I've ever heard about love was this past summer in The Ugly Truth (yeah, I saw it. And I loved it.)That's right, a chick flick spoke some truth. There's a scene where Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are talking and she asks him, "Why do you love me?" Instead of rattling off a list of things he likes about her and finds attractive about her, as you'd expect in not only this kind of movie but pretty much anytime that question is asked, he says, "I don't know. But I do." And really, I can't think of a better way to say it than that. There's something blatantly honest about that statement/scene. It's true. You have no control over who you fall in (and out) of love with, it just happens. Sure, you might have a "type" but guaranteed you don't love every person of that type. And everyone who's type you are doesn't love you. Why? I don't know. No one does. That's just the way it is. Here's a song I wrote a while ago about just that.

I can hardly see tonight
It's far too dark
I'll find my way to you my love
Through the candle in my heart

I can't hear a sound tonight
I'm struggling to find you here
I'll wander through the darkness alone
And hope that you appear

I'd wait for you
Would you wait for me
I'll be the one
Standing
Down looking to the sea

I can't feel a thing tonight
I'm struggling to be
I'll send up a signal through the fog
And hope you answer my plea

I can't fall asleep tonight
It's far too hard without you here
I'll set out through my dreams alone
And hope to meet you there

I'd wait for you
Would you wait for me
I'll be the one
Staring
Out lost by the sea

But all of this isn't as hard as growing up
And holding out
For you
There's not one thing I wouldn't do
I'd lose my mind and sell my soul
Before I walk away from you
And all along as we grow old
Apart and up
Still I'll wait for you

I'd wait for you
You didn't wait for me
I'll be the one
Drowning
At the bottom of the sea

I'm through waiting for you
Now and forever
I'll be the one
Drowning
At the bottom of the sea

But I
Don't want to drown tonight
So I
Will wait for you for the rest of my life
No I
Don't want to drown tonight
So I
Will wait for you for the rest of my life
But I
Don't want to drown tonight
And I
Would wait for you for my whole life
And I
Don't want to drown tonight
So I
Will wait for you for my whole life

love, unrequited love, lyrics
