This week is my last at work. It's strange to know that we're pretty much all leaving. Lots of people are gone already because they got jobs at the other Geisinger hospital, but there are still a lot of us who are just going to be out of a job. It sucks for the people who are staying, too, because all their friends are going to be gone.
Last week was an excellent week though. I kept meaning to post about it and never did. Every now and then we pass out patient surveys, asking about the quality/temperature of food, courtesy of the staff, things like that. Well, every patient who handed back a survey on my floor, after I'd been there all week, put that our foodservice staff is excellent. =D They wrote notes about "always a smile and a good morning" and stuff like that. I also had a patient write on her menu before she was discharged that we were so wonderful and helpful, again after I'd been on that floor all week. That's happened to me before, too. We hang those menus on our bulletin board, and the only ones that have been up there since April are ones that were submitted by patients of mine (ie I was their hostess for at least 2 meals a day for 3+ days). Pretty excellent. =)
I got a job at King's in their foodservice department. I was in the office with James and we were talking to another James, the networking guy. The other James asked us if we needed anything before he left for the day and my James and I were like "do you know anyone hiring?" hahaha. He knows Pat, the head of Dining Services, really well so he called her. He took me down to meet her and she gave me a hiring packet on the spot. It had an application in it because that needs to be filed in HR, but it also had my W-4, I-9, direct deposit forms, and scheduling stuff and all that jazz. Now all she needs to do is call me to say when I'm working.
Oh, and tonight, Ashley just told me that her sister, Courtney, wanted to ask me if I'd be baby Kiera's godmother if her boyfriend's sister doesn't want to do it. I'm sure she will want to, because really, who refuses being a godparent? But that's so exciting and I feel so honored anyway. They're Episcopalian, so they're not strict religious or anything, which is so awesome. Ashley is Natalynn's godmother, and the church knows she's a lesbian. That is SO awesome to me. That would never happen in the Catholic church, man. Hell, my uncle Ernie is my brother's godfather, but he converted to Mormonism sometime a while back, so he couldn't be my brother's sponsor for Confirmation because he was no longer Catholic.
Melanie saw the vet today to get her createnine and some other levels checked. We'll know the results on Thursday when Dr. Edwards comes back to the office. I'm sure she's doing well, though.
Some pretty good stuff going on!
