Meet Minnie

PICTURES!

I think she's Egyptian, or at least partly so (google image "egyptian mau" to see more examples).  She's 5.9 lbs now, so she's up a half pound bigger than when I adopted her June 24.  She still has big ears, cleopatra eyeliner marks, otter like whiskers, furry webbed toes, polka dots on her tummy, and rings around her tail with the tip dipped in black.

Since I got her, she's had an eye infection in both eyes (2 meds for that), a cold (antibiotics plus nasal drops), dirty ears (ear cleaner), and now that that's all cleared up, she was just diagnosed Tuesday with ear mites.  So now I've got more meds for that, as well as q-tipping her ears a few times a day to get some of the stuff out.  SHe's good about it though because they itch and she shakes her head like she's got water in her ears.  Poor baby.  She's also good about letting me clip her toenails, wipe her nose when she's sneezy and ishy, and clean off her feet if she gets 'em dirty in her box.

She also still has her claws, although my mom is trying to convince me that my doctor will make me get them removed if I get an infection from her scratches.  I've been covered in scratches, unintentionally.

She's super playful.  She plays fetch.  And tries to follow the arrow around on my computer, or type for me.  She watches tv.  Just now she jumped up and did her halloween-kitty back arch at the sight and sound of a helicopter going across the screen on Walker Texas Ranger, but settled down again on the coffee table just staring at the screen.  Of course, this leaves little wet kitty snot prints all over the screens when she's sniffing stuff.  She plays hide and seek, and goes into jungle kitty mode every morning and night, where she runs and hides all over.  She sleeps next to me with her head on my pillow and sometimes she puts her paw on me.  And she gets happy paws as she falls asleep like she's kneading dough with her claws.

Her favorite foods are cheese, ice cream (she's tried mint choco chip and cookie dough), boca burgers, taco dip, shrimp lo mein, peanut butter, and my mom's plants.  She's also tried different cereals, asparagus, green beans, tofu, fake chik'n, hummus, tortilla chips, and scrambled egg, but didn't seem to be as much of a fan with that stuff.  She likes batting around frosted mini wheats on the kitchen floor, as well as ponytail holders and the rings you find around gallons of milk.  she also likes to sleep on magazines or the latest Onion, as well as eat any sort of paper.  She also wouldn't mind eating bugs if I'd let her, but I don't.

She's kinda scared of lots of people, but she loves attention and will flop down at your feet if she thinks you'll rub her.  She cries when I leave, or when I'm in the shower (she HATES water), or when I'm in the other room... basically she whimpers and whines until I come back.  And if she loses one of her toys, she cries until I fish it out from under the stove or fridge.  She follows me around.  She's tough though - a cat twice her size tried to come into my apartment and she tried to smack him.

Minnie's gotten some toys from my coworker, and my mom and I spoil her with treats and toys, and my sisters bring home milk cap rings for her.  She's totally spoiled, but that's ok.  As you can see, I've already taken a ton of pics of her.  More to come!
