Went out to the lake last night to try and talk to Noren, and it was very...umm...awkward. Apparently she sleeps in the nude, and so when I caught her swimming and leaping into and out of the lake in mid-stride just for fun, I couldn't help but feel a tad embarassed. Then Ceta joined up, and I figured I might as well just call it a night. Not that I didn't want to talk, but just sitting there while Noren sat at the bottom of the lake and threw rocks at me made my anger about a certain situation go away. So I didn't need to talk anymore. :-)
Work is going well. I got my first paycheck the other day, and I bought myself a great book on the basics of fighting with a katana. It's sweet, but unfortunately I don't have as much time to work on that as I would've liked. At least until summer starts...ahh, it's so close I can taste it! :-( Doh.
Anyway, hope everything is going well with everyone else, too!
<> The Docks
Thick durable wooden planks make up the mansion's lone dock extending out over Breakstone Lake. Built to last, it's a foot or two above the water to reduce decay and stop slippery algae from coating it. On the right side a clean, sparkly blue four person paddle boat floats. A chain connects the boat to a pole built into the dock that sports a painted sign, bearing the words, 'LifeJackets in boathouse--Required!' suggesting anyone can use it. The water's bottom drops out of view halfway down the docks long length, suggesting jumping in would be safe. Not far off is the rustic appeal of the Boathouse, sitting comfortable at the lake's edge.

Soft footsteps are soon heard as Quark appears near the lake, preferring to walk in the cool of the night instead of simply teleporting. Eyes specifically scanning for someone with horns, and making sure said someone isn't here in his current mood, he walks up near the shore to where Noren's stuff seems to be sitting. He looks up and around, not really seeing her as it starts to get darker. Where is she...? She's not asleep yet, is she?
Ceta emerges from the woods as well, unknotting her T-shirt in preparation to remove it before she realizes that she's not alone here. "Ah - hey there ..." She waves to the boy, not remembering his name off the top of her head. "Were you going for a swim or waiting to meet someone?"
Norenvalei is out swimming underwater. She didn't even go up to the mansion to do her chores today, prefering the lake. Ah, the wonderful relaxing lake. She figures she may as well surface for a few seconds, and shooting up from the bottom, that's exactly what she does. She uses her breathing and ripples her body in fish/dolphin like fashion, and with a speed born of constantly being in the water comes breaking through the surface, with her hands first over her head and her body arcs back through the air and she rolls as she does an almost full 180 in the air and goes back into the water. How can she be so fast? Simple. /LOTS/ of practice.
Quark jumps up as another person arrives, and she -also- begins to strip like the lake is some big skinny dipping center! What the--I thought this was a -school-?! Quickly turning his head away in case she's about to strip, too, he stutters slightly, "Umm...I was looking for Noren. She sleeps out here, but I guess--" Then, as his vision is facing the lake and away from Ceta, he can't help but notice the naked Noren leaping at full speed out of the lake in a nifty little dolphin jump and back into it. And he facepalms and groans audibly, covering his eyes as quickly as possible to preserve his virgin eyes. Reemphasizing point: I thought this was a -school-?! He laughs once, embarrassedly, and instead replies, "But apparently she's...not asleep."
Ceta raises an eyebrow as Noren 'shows off' ... and she's only taking off her T-shirt at the moment, revealing a sleekly fitting short wetsuit underneath. (Plus she's got a bikini underneath that ... but unless Quark's mutant power is picking up on hidden contours he probably won't figure that out.) "If she *is* asleep, she's taken sleepwalking to a new level," she grins quietly. "Want me to try and tell her she's got a visitor, or do you think she spotted you?"
Averillix stands not too far up on the path coming in, and she just appears to be peering. Her white bandana is tightened a little bit more, mostly out of nervousness, and her gunmetal silver eyes try to asess just /where/ she's going at the moment.
Norenvalei continues to the bottom of the lake. A couple minutes later, a rock breaks the surface about 30 feet from the shore aimed for Quark's shin. If he was to look with his talent, he might could see through the water to notice Noren waving and smirking and smiling at him.
Another rock comes out, aimed towards the spot beside Ceta's feet, just to the left.
Quark looks just briefly back at Ceta and sighs with relief, realizing that at least -she- isn't about to go nude into the lake. Good. He does manage a weak laugh at that comment about sleepwalking, and replies somewhat hastily, "Yes, please do." He quickly and curiously scans the lake with his x-ray vision, noticing a vague form of Noren near the bottom as the source of rocks in his direction. Shifting his vision back to normal, he blinks and replies somewhat shakily as he gets that temporary nausea again, "I think she knows I'm here, though." It's a good thing he got shocked out of his other mood on the way here, because he was kinda irritated about something and needed to talk to her about something that happened the other night. Hmm.
Ceta blinks down at the rock, and grins, waving at Noren before tossing a small 'star' into the water, illuminating the area around it as it moves towards Noren, diffusing somewhat but holding together fairly well, its light pulsing gently. "Yeah, I'd say she noticed us," she agrees with Quark. "So, made your plans for the summer yet?"
Norenvalei ooos at the ball of light and almost starts to play with it, but it difuses. *le sigh* She floats up towards the surface and peeks her head up. As she gets some fresh air into her lungs, she looks around and heads to the shore to talk with Ceta and Chris, an eye towards the new person, noted to not be forgotten.
Norenvalei says, ""HI CHRIS!!" A second or three later, "Hey Ceta!
Quark blinks and is impressed by Ceta's cool display of 'starlight' powers. Nifty! He shrugs and replies to Ceta as he turns to her with a shy smile, "Well, I'm going to be a bit busy with my new job--at Starbucks nonetheless--but otherwise, I'd love to spend some time with my girlfriend." Turning his eyes towards Noren, he admits again as he has said to her in the past, "I'd like to give her some more of my time, really. She deserves it." He waves with a happy grin as Noren surfaces and shouts out to her, "Forgetting some of your clothes, perhaps...?"
Ceta nods to Quark, then calls out to Noren, "Mind some company in the water? I won't intrude on the conversation, I just came down for a swim ..." ^.^
Norenvalei slips towards the shore. "Didn't forget, Chris. Just didn't wear. The turtleneck clings to my neck while I swim and I hadn't thought about ruining another yellow swimsuit in the lake. My stuff is just on the edge aboard the houseboat, actually. And I'd /love/ the company, Ceta. The lake is lonely with no one else in it." A second later, "Oh! I found this /great/ spot where the fishes like to hang around. It's a felled tree in the middle. Like it was once above water level or somethin'." She doesn't mind Quark seein' her. Actually, she doesn't mind /anyone/ seeing her. The people here are family, afterall. Only family she has, even.
Norenvalei asks, "Why'd you come all the way down here, though Chris?"
Quark nods, replying with a small smile at her silly antics, "Actually, I wanted to talk to you. I wanted to talk to you about David and the conversation you apparently had with him the other night. I'd like to let you know that I posted a comment in his LJ asking--well, mostly telling--him not to every personally attack you like that again." A satisfied look in his eyes, he winks and shrugs, "That being said, I guess sitting around out here kinda defused my irritated anger." He stands up and offers her a wave, commenting, "I'd love to join you, but to be honest, I don't really like swimming a whole lot. Don't worry, I can live without it. Besides, I don't have any swimming clothes, so I would be forced to go in the nude to prevent the ruining of my own clothes." Again he winks at Noren and then goes to leave, "Talk to you some other time."
OOC: Thanks to Noren and Ceta (as well as a -very- brief entry-and-exit from one of our newest X-students, Averillix) for a very interesting and amusing scene! :-)
