He's gone.
Someone killed him.
I shouldn't have left.
i'll find them and kill them myself
Salem Center
A small little escape from the hustle and bustle of the inner city whose skyline looms in the distance, Salem Center is a relatively small Westchester community that retains some illusion of colonial charm, about it. The stores and restaurants and small apartment buildings here are, for the most part, brick and wood with barely a steel-and-glass skyscraper in sight. The atmosphere is generally pleasant, if humble, and most mutants feel far more comfortable on these much more liberal sidewalks than they do in the depths of the city. Quaint little bistros, boutiques, and any number of alluring spots to explore are all packed closely against one another with few narrow alleys in sight. It's less crowded than the city, to boot, and on most days not much more than a few handfuls of people roam the sidewalks down the line of glass store-windows and colored awnings overlooking the Main Street.
Scarf is wrapped around a head of pastel green hair, but the light silver eyes give away one thing that her expression may also lend to: it was hot. Averillix's walking her merry little way through the center, having had to go out for emergency supplies for the plants in the garden. She could enhance them and everything, true, but that would take a looot of energy she was just too lazy to spend lately. Instead, with bags in hand, Averillix begins to walk somewhat back in the direction of the school, meandering distractedly.
A cab slides to a halt downtown and out steps Blythe. She nods to the driver who, having been paid drives off. Blythe raises her head hollow eyes sweeping the area and a stern look of a woman on a mission plastered on her face. She wanders over to the front of the stor heedless of those walking around her. In fact they part like the red sea as she approaches looking at her suprised and uncomfortable. "Excuse me... "she pipes, marching up to the first attendant she sees, "Is there a school around here."
The attendant looks up from her work - or, rather, her reading of The Da Vinci Code - and as she looks up at Blythe, there is a quick, slightly startled look on her face. After a moment, though, she begins to answer, only slightly halted by stammer. "Well, like," begins the teenager, "there's this road, over... that way, you know. Like, out into Weschester? ... Man, I suck at directions."
Averillix, however, is walking by at this point, and as she listens to the attendant try to give directions, she pauses, then turns with a slight smile. "Uhm... excuse me? I happened to overhear but, are you looking for the Xavier School?" Her voice is unmistakably tainted with heavy French accent, and as she stands there, she smiles lightly.
Turning Blythe faces Averillix as she approaches taking a step back. Within 5 feet of her the air begins to cool sharply thickening as though it were a humid day, and it only gets worse, like breathing in a steam room within 4 feet and like trying to breathe through a STRAW in that steam room when any closer. "Yes, Actually, I have a delivery to make.."she says sternly as she focuses her hollow eyes on Averillix trying to pick out her features. as she fingers the envelope in her hand.
Averillix fidgets, now. There was a moment of relief on her face, but now, as she moves to pull the scarf from around her head, she gives a slight, uncomfortable sigh. "It gets hotter and hotter today," she mutters. She does, however, take note of the woman's eyes; strange as hers were, Blythe's don't startle her too much in the least. The attendant goes back to reading her book, and as Averillix glances over Blythe, seeing the envelope, she looks back to the other woman's face, smiling. "I work there, actually... would you like for me to deliver it for you?"
Blythe says, "Well I'm looking for someone named Averillix... if I can see her myself... I'd appreciate it. It's really important."she says furrowing her brow. "I made the trip today... I'll have to call a cab to get back, I'll be glad to take the walk to see her."
In a page-pose to you, Dorian pies Averillix.
"Averillix Montague?" she asks, though... from her account, she was the only Averillix in the school /or/ country, at current. Again, there's a shift from the heat.
Nodding lightly, "I just know her name's Averillix, and shes at the school... I don't her last name. He never mentioned it..." Blythe says, taking a deep breath as some antsiness begins creeping in. "Its... really... really... important." she says again, her mouth drawing in a tight line voice quivering slightly.
Averillix's face grows a tiny bit concerned, and as she first attempts to speak, she squeaks a little. Clearing her throat, she tries again. "I'm Averillix, the only one at the school." Eyes whiten more, darting down to the letter, and then moving back to Blythe. "Is something the matter? That letter's for me?" Racing thoughts cause her eyes to start cycling through their silver tones, quite rapidly in fact.
Blythe closes her eyes, "I... oh... its you... god I thought I'd still be able to --- have more time. "she says, " We should go some place quiet... where we can sit." she says shakily. "I just cant talk about this here...." she says with a hard swallow.
"Please can we go somewhere else!?" she says a bit harshly drawing a shaky breath "Even if its just a bench or something..."Blythe turns immediatly looking the area over for somewhere our of the main stream of pedestrian traffic, to sit.
Complete white replaces silver now, and as Averillix nods, she moves to head toward one of the benches. Hands begin to wring, and her bag is shuffled uncomfortably. The woman sits, waiting for Blythe to follow.
Blythe moves over and settles down on the opposite end of the bench. beside her the air is about 10 degrees cooler than the current air temperature, but the pressure is rather uncomfortable all around "First to get the awkward thing out of the way that wont matter anyways. "she says with a sigh. "I've been coming and going and intermittently staying with him since probably this last November, december or so... "she says looking down, "I would come and go as I pleased, he came to expect me sitting there when he came home on occasion, at random. it seemed like it was always a pleasant surprise for him. He never gave me a key... so I expect it was. I was... there this weekend, and I waited... He'd left this on the table like... it was a note... but I cant read things like that... "Blythe stops and swallows, she cant seem to look Averillix, a strange glossy black ooze starts welling around the rim of her eye though its not incredibly noticeable at present.
"Oh..." And there's an embarassed look on her face, her hands stared down at and lip bitten harder. "So I guess, like... you're the reason he never wanted to be... intimate with me? He had you, and so..." And so Averillix giggles. "I can understand. You're much shorter, and much prettier and everything." Fingers now ball up, grabbing at her pants, and Averillix gives a soft, forcedly patient smile. The note is eyed again, and she sighs. "Is that all you've come to tell me? That you were sleeping with my boyfriend and found a - why haven't you read it yet?" The train of thought jerks suddenly, and she sighs, running her hands through her hair.
Gritting her teeth Blythe's head snaps up and she stares at Averillix with a look of first, anger, then understanding, and then the expression just goes blank. "I wasn't with him,it was nothing like that at all! He was simply the only person I've called a friend in about 5 years. I havent read the note cause I can't. I cant see things that are flat like that... I .. it's hard to explain."she says voice edging on frantic. "I... I thought that it was an 'I'm out' or... I went somewhere letter, he wouldnt have left it for me though. So I figured it was for you... but... he... he never came back averillix." Blythe quivers a bit, "I... the feds they came and they started packing up his things after a day or so... baging things up in plastic bags. Anything with names and numbers like evidence. And throwing other things out. They wouldnt tell me what happened to him."she says as an oozy black tear slips down her face slowly.
Averillix is still tense for awhile, until she sees the different changes in face. She listens, silent at first, until she releases her lip, to guess, "Because of your mutation..." The appearance and the fact that Brendan did /not/ tend to human kind gives the girl away, and as she sits there, still debating and seething, she gives a long, silent sigh. Fingers scrape at her jeans, before the right one raises, beckoning for the note. "Can I see it?" There's a slight trembled note of fear there, as well as in the shaking right hand.
Handing her the note, Blythe lowers her head "I... then I heard about the body in the park... on the radio... the witnesses said that, that person was glowing... and that the body was found d-decapatated even though that wasnt---- ---- it just seemed too much a coincidence and the way the feds were handing things."she states, "I... guess you havent seen him, but is the letter a going away letter is it anything like that. Something to say that he's not.... dead... ?"she whipes some of the strange black tears from her face.
Averillix takes the note and, as she's mid opening the letter, she pauses. Eyes flick from silver to red, sharply, and Avex quickly shuts her eyes. The woman sits there, trembling for a moment, before she stands, opening her eyes again. "Can you come with /me/, now? I -" she pauses, swallowing hard. "It's not good for me to be out here in the center, right now. We just need to go walk for awhile." It's taking all the girl's control to stay calm, but, if Blythe was perceptible enough, she might notice many of the flower beds breaking into bloom, their pollen and scent beginning to spread.
Standing, Blythe draws a deep breath, she doesnt notice the flowers themselves, though the ammount of pollen entering the air is definately an interesting sight to her. " I understand." Her voice comes out a bit muddled, "whereever you like."
Averillix nods; standing, and walking rather briskly at that, she begins to begins to walk out of the center, out and away toward the less than less crowded section, those long legs of her taking her far in each step. She starts to opening the letter, keeping it folded over and closed for the time being. Mind is racing still, and as soon as she reaches a less crowded section - a stretch of grass, she plunks down, sitting and taking several shaky breaths.
Following hastily Blythe moves through the crowd, her own nerves literally pressuring people out of the way if they are within 4 feet of her weather she means to or not. She moves to where Averillix is and flops down herself. The asian wipes her face free of tears once more as she does so looking anxiously at the letter in averillix's hands.
Averillix sighs out softly, and as she presses her lips together, she starts to read slowly over the letter's contents. She's quiet - for a long while - and as she finishes, the Frenchwoman presses the letter to her lips. Sorrowful pink fills her eyes, and the grass around her starts to wither.
"It's... a note. It's a note he wrote to me after we broke up." She begins to hand the note back to Blythe, for her to read but, upon realizing that that's not quite possible, she sighs. "He... he was really scary that night, and then I left him. In the note, he says to me," Averillix begins, swallowing a bit, "that he is not mad, and that he understands and..." Clear tears in juxtapose to Blythe's own stream from her face, and she pulls her legs up closer to her, the grass within 100 foot radius instantly starts blanches and dies, the effects from that starting to creep outward. "He's gone..."
Blythe looks completely blank all of a sudden, the hope that there would be something else there, the anger of the possibility that it was truth all seems to dump away and disappear leaving her rather empty feeling. The air around her seems to bend and congeal her hair floating as though she were under water as she stands. "Well... "she says, her voice drifting creepily though the thickened air, muffled and deepened sounding almost dissembodied, "I suppose my delivery is made." Blythe furrows her brow as though there is some sort of conflict going on inside her on the matter of what to do now.
"Thank you..." It's all Averillix can manage for now, and as she looks up at Blythe, eyes turned completely back to white now, she stands. Eyes are wiped at, tears wiped from slanted eyes, and she gives a little nod of her head. "Thank you very much," she murmurs. "I hope... If you ever need anyone to help you... I mean." Averillix breaks off, shaking her head. A long breath is drawn in, released, along with part of her tention. "(As Brendan was a friend to you)", she speaks in slightly halting Japanese, "(I'd like to be able... to be a friend to you.)"
Blythe nods a slight curl turning the corner of her lips though it cant possible be considered a solid smile, she looks cold still somehow. Perhaps its just her way of dealing with it. "Anata wa watashi o mitte imasho. (You will probably see me again)." she says in japanese and continues in english, "I am interested in the school... it's clearly very tolerant. You'll see me again." she says and turning begins to stride back toward the town hair still floating unnaturally around her head.
And Averillix, bags and tow and grass wilting along her way as she goes, begins to walk back toward the school, in silence.
