girl, some of the most interesting stuff you must read about is wwii propaganda in regards to women in the workplace and the way the OWI used the media to shape public opinion about women to make them seem empowered (rosie the riveter) but really they just protracted the maternal caretaker role to make them work while the boys were away, but the point is the way that they shuffled women back into the domestic realm was by using this rampantly conformity-provoking women's mag ideology of consumerism and cold war paranoia propadanda. its like the political socioeconomic basis for the current status of women (barring of course you know...all of human history) but yeah. definitely read stuff about that stuff unless you have. in which case, yeah isnt that fuucked up?

next time your in new orleans call me and i'll lend you the book

it totally blew my mind

like he talks about product packaging and the differences in effect on say our generation as compared to those who came of age in the eighties

and he talks about how the concept of photography has seriously fucked up everyone's minds and how tourism has made people think they have to spend thousands of dollars and take a cruise in order to see something beautiful and/or be enlightened and how the concept of finding yourself"" is a recent invention like in the 1700's people didnt go to europe to find themselves or be enlightened but now people act like if you haven't been to europe you are a naive infant... college is insane. post ww2 things are fascinating. i want to hang out with you next time your here.
