There are so many people out there that dread the "worship" part of the sermon because they hate singing and standing up for 30 minutes, but it is my belief that these are the many who misunderstand what worship is and what it can be. Worship is wellspring of every emotion you feel for your God at that moment and time... yes there is music and some one playing on a stage infront of you but what is he singing? Do those words echo in your heart? Are they the very words your were searching to say to your God but could never find?
We are called to be spiritual warriors but warriors celebrate their victories too and worship is a time of celebration a time to stand before your God and dance and wave your arms and shout I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU LORD! The feeling is amazing and it warms God's heart to see his creations celebrate his name! But even more than that it's a battle field it's a chance for you to say you don't win Satan... MY GOD ALWAYS WINS IN THE END AND YOU WILL NOT KEEP ME IN BONDAGE. Worship is a powerful weapon that is too often overlooked to be a girl thing or just a time to sing. Worship is an action, a battle field with a melodious battle cry. Let's fight to praise our God!
A Friend of mine wrote this in her blog on Myspace:
"Praise. It doesn't look like the kind of word that would strike fear into mens hearts or bring down one hundred foot walls of stone. It usually just conjurs up warm fuzzies for most people. Myself included. I tend to forget the actual definition of that word. There are two translations in Hebrew for the word "Praise".(Mind you there are probably more than this, I'm just giving you these two because these are all that I know at the moment). "Halal" and "Yadah"."
""Halal"- A primitive root; to be clear (Originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show, to boast; and thus to be(clamourously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate.
"Yadah"- Literally to use (that is, hold out) the hand, physically to throw (a stone or an arrow) at or away; especially to revere or worship (with extended hands)."
"So what I understand now from these definitions is that praise is not a meek or mild action. When "Halal" is applied we are to celebrate! The clarity of our praise should be in the sound of our voices as well as the color(transparency) of our hearts. We should be uninhibited. Foolish even. We then should apply the "Yadah" principle of physically showing our affections. Nothing will ever be as beautiful to me as seeing hundreds of hands stretched towards heaven in honor of our God. Our hearts and our hands are considered weapons. Our praises are to be as arrows bringing down the one who would have us silenced! The walls around Jericho did not come down for meek men with timid praise and timid hearts. They came down because of the power of the celebration being leveled against them by children boasting of their fathers goodness and might! We praise because we will not be kept silent! This is the reason that I am here. This is my purpose."
I love you all
Please go and Worship our Lord!!!
