Faux News on the London attacks

Jul 09, 2005 12:13

This is [Blair's] second address in the last hour. First to the people of London, and now at the G8 summit, where their topic Number 1 --believe it or not-- was global warming, the second was African aid. And that was the first time since 9-11 when they should know, and they do know now, that terrorism should be Number 1. But it's important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world's advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened.

-- Fox News' Brian Kilmeade, the day after the bombings.

God, I hate the cable news industry so much. Why do people need "commentary" on an event like this? Isn't it obvious what should be going through everyone's mind? Secondly, what the hell are they talking about? I mean...

(a) After time and time again putting words like "the terrorist attacks were good" into liberals' mouths and berating us for it, they turn around and say the same damn thing about the London attacks? Give me a break.

(b) Terrorism terrorism terrorism. Sure, go ahead and mock global warming and the African AIDS and development crises. With all due respect to the people who suffered from the London bombings, millions of people die unnecessarily in Africa every year because they live in utterly abject poverty and/or have no way to stop the spread of AIDS through their communities. Global warming threatens to have catastrophic consequences in the near future. But no, terrorism is #1. Always. Axiomatically. Terrist terrist terrist.
