Autism

I don't think I fully understood how amazing our body is until now. I've had sciences before where they told us similar things about the nervous system, but for some reason I find this all so much more interesting now. It's probably because I'm in this pyschology class out of interest rather than bcause I have to. It's amazing to think how quick the nervous system reponds of every action we do. I never even thought about how quick and what goes on in the body.  For example, the moment we get hurt we instantly feel the pain. What I wonder is, what would happen if your arm were to get completely cut off? Would you feel the pain right away? Since the neurons get cut off I wonder if it would take longer for the message to send to the brain and back.
I enjoyed watching Rain Man; more than I thought I would. I find it really sad some people have to live with that condition. I can't imagine living a life being unsocial. It would be too lonely. I feel like I'm learning alot about austism lately because I just finished reading "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks where the father also had autism and I also just saw the movie for that book, along with Rain Man. It makes me very sad that people have to live with it and it's out of teir control. I've never known anyone with autism but I can only imagine how hard it must be to look after that person.
