The Static Transistor - i like this band. they were good.

Overseas - never heard them before this, and i liked them. i dont think i could listen to them for an extended period of time, but still, good.

Not Without Resistance - the new songs are really good. the last two times ive seen them have been really good.

Endless Mike and the Beagle Club - i thought the first song that was just the singer on the keyboard was awful, however the rest of it was really cool. i loved all the instruments. too bad it was like 300 degrees in there. i had to listen to the last two songs from outside.

Path to Misery - not the tightest theyve been, but the great sound made up for it. i could hear the drums so well which normally i normally cant when they play.

Dr. Manhattan - the only band that played the main fest that i was not excited for that impressed me. all the dudes were crazy except for the drummer. second most fun band to watch, i thought.

Steel Nation - this band gets better and better each time i see them. my 3rd favorite of saturday.

Pfunkt - very entertaining. he had a hard on for steve jarrett, which was hilarious.

Engineer - they were okay but i wasnt into them.

Passion - they were okay also; there were a couple of parts they had that were interesting.

Giant - im sorry but i thought this band was so so boring. i like my slow music pretty.

Mistletoe - i talked to pooptoss throughout their set, but they didnt sound like anything id be sad about missing.

The Minor Times - i dont like them recorded. i gave them a chance live. wasnt into it.

Rediscover - talked through them...honestly cant remember what they sounded like

The Dream Is Dead - so good. i, too, forgot to buy merch from them, and feel stupid for doing so.

Advent - uh, they were okay. im surprised at how many people thought they were awesome, but good for them.

Cipher - i like this band so much that it really doesnt matter how sloppy they play. i loved it. however, all their best songs need two guitars, which is disappointing. also such nice people in that band. i cant describe in text how excited the bass player was to go see the monroeville mall, haha.

Turmoil - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh i love this band! definitely my favorite of the whole fest. i wish they played both nights. if they would have played the locust, the set would have been perfect. commander in thief is so good and it pisses me off so bad; i love it.

The Caulfield Principle - besides Built Upon Frustration, ive seen this band more than any other, although i hadnt seen them in like two years. christian has really great stuff to say, and i hope he continues to sing for a band just so i can hear him say worthwhile things into a microphone.

i had work so i missed like half of sunday. bummed i missed Pulling Teeth.

Fireworks - watched a few songs, was unimpressed, watched nick shoot hoops, was very impressed, watched kids try to fight dylon, was impressed by the level of meatheadedness.

Architect - SO GOOD! made the whole day worth it. broke dick dog is soooooooooooooooooooo good. and that song that they played thats not on the cd was awesome also. hopefully that song is on their half of the possible PTM split. their presence (sp?) was great. im need to learn the words to some songs so i can sing along in blairsville.

Annasay - not into them

Strength for a Reason - the dudes in the band seem so nice and their set was really fun. also i really dig the PA unity deal.

Premonitions of War - most disappointing set ever. not because they were bad--they sounded fucking awesome. for the first half of the set i was going nuts. HOWEVER, the new singer fucking RUINED it. terrible vocals, terrible mosh calls, and when he said "mosh you faggots" or whatever disappointment hit me harder than ive ever been hit with it before. in fact, it made me really mad. we had amazing bands and people of all types trying promote equality and unity and understanding of different ideas all weekend, and then we got to end it with a band who's singer was anything BUT sincere that felt that throwing around hurtful terms in the name of MOSH would be really cool. i hope someone got a picture or film of me tackling him. i really hope they get a different singer so i can think they are an awesome band again. its really a shame that he can say shit like that and people will still go nuts...i hope a day comes where social justice is strong enough where when something like that happens everyone will just stop in their tracks in disgust...

sorry for the rant. i dont believe that everyone should think the way i do. homophobia is just something i have simply had enough of. im not sure if i even approve of my own reaction to that incident, but i was so mad and in a selfish way i felt really triumphant. looking back, i probably should have just heckled the shit out of them for the rest of the set...but i still do want to see what it looked like.

overall, the fest was excellent. im glad i decided to go on sunday after work even though i only liked two bands that day. im glad i was able to be a part of it. this really is what its all about. most of the bands seemed to appreciate every single person watching them.

and, its been said, but needs to be reiterated that all the people helping in the kitchen were amazing. that is a lot of hours to put into something, and they should know that it was appreciated.

and had i known that the side microphone was going to be so underused, i would have put together some lectures. although im not sure if anyone would have really cared. the people that did speak into it had some very provocative (sp?) and worthwhile things to say.
