I watched The 400 Blows a few days ago, and as usual, I disliked it. The French New Wave just doesn't do it for me.
They all kind of fall into the same pattern for me. The individual scene are often good, but the movie as a whole is lacking. They leave me at best with a "Well, so what" feeling, and at worst (Vivre Sa Vie), feeling like I've had part of my life stolen from me. The movies feel like they are less than the sum of their parts.
Can't argue with the cinematography, though. The french have a strong history of good framing and lighting. This had some great examples.
Chrys and I worked on the attic more this past weekend and finally have one of the rooms fully spackled/joint compounded. We are painting soon, and that's a big step.
Also, huzzah for the Bay Bridge being open again! Man, that was great news this morning!
