Friday my northern neighbor chopped off the branches of my apple tree that hung over his garage and dumped the branches back over the fence into my yard. I could not be so happy.
I wanted to trim the apple tree for a long time because there were branches that were also over my garage. I was afraid that if I cut the branches over my garage, that the tree would tip over into my neighbor garage. To trim the tree correctly, I needed to cut both set of branches, but I did not have the tools or skill to do the set that hung over the fence into my neighbor yard. By cutting those branches in his yard my neighbor did half the work for me.
I was planning to trim the tree in November, when the tree is dormant. Since my neighbor has cut one set of branches, I had to cut the other set as soon as possible to keep the tree upright.
I spent most of today trimming the apple tree. The tree is trimmed of the long branches over my garage, but I could not get all the branches bundle up before darkness fell.
