TempleCon excitement!

Okay, I just have to take a break from working on the con, just for a moment, and crow about how excited I am about this! We are getting such a lot of positive responses both online and off - people are coming in from all over the country for this (and there's even a couple of internationals!), and I get a little thrill every time someone new pre-registers.

Since one of the hats that I wear for TempleCon involves organizing the game masters (specifically, finding places to put them!), this is the area where my excitement is really going through the roof! I've attended a fair number of conventions in my life, so when organizing this one, I really wanted there to be a great mix of games - all different genres, run by people who really love them. Well, someone out there heard my prayers. Oh. My. Gods. The. Games! I'm fairly boggled at the number and variety!

At first, the game masters just sort of trickled in, as we put the word out about the con. Now, it's become an intricate jigsaw puzzle figuring out where to put them all, and we have a really good mix of different kinds of games - collectible card games, role-playing games (LARP and table-top), miniatures games, board games... Friends and strangers alike have really come through to make the selection incredible. The webmaster really has his hands full trying to keep the site updated! And I have my hands full with the room layout, corresponding with game-masters and guests of honor about the con, talking to industry reps about prize support and promotional give-aways...

Up until now, it's been a ton of work, yes, but I didn't really appreciate what we were doing it all for - I had a vision, but I didn't have the reality to back it up. Now, I'm actually getting to see people's reactions, and I'm getting a hint of what's in store for us during the actual convention, and it kind of takes my breath away... All of the stupid stereotypes about gamers don't really let you in on the fact that there are a lot of creative, intelligent, driven people who love gaming, and giving them a fun and beautiful space to do what they love best can yield some pretty awe-inspiring results!

Okay, that's enough crowing for one evening. ;P Time for me to get back to work...
