I forgot to update about a new book I've finished, and I need to before I forget everything about it. As you can tell by the title of this entry, it's called A Child Out of Alcatrez. I just finished Tuesdays With Morrie. I was surprised while reading it because it hadn't touched me immediately the way I thought it would. The story of a dying man and his last  lessons should have been one to grab hold of me instantly. I don't know why it didn't, but I do know that by the end, I found myself crying tears I didn't expect to fall. ( Read more... )

Finished The Lovely Bones yesterday. It was a truly wonderful book. Obviously it talked a lot toward the end about heaven and what happens after we pass away. I know it's silly and naive, but I always want to believe what the book says. I'm almost done with the Lovely Bones. So cloooosee....

I just came in from lying on the dock with Jess. I went out at 11:45.  Nearly three glorious hours of perfect sunshine sent me back to my room with more than just browned, summer-smelling skin. I feel like I should write something about this book, but I don't really know how to describe it. It was wonderful, in a word. I've been wanting to read "The Time Traveler's Wife" ever since I teared up to the movie's trailer. The movie looks wonderful, but the second the faceless voice boomed, "from the best-selling novel," I knew I needed to read the book before the movie would forever cement my vision of it.
