So, Kurt & I went to the Montery Bay Aquarium today! I had a great time visiting with Chris & Kevin. It really was a great day! I think it did me a lot of good to get out and about with friends!
I did have a bit of a shock today though. I was talking to Kevin, he grew up in Marin and we know a lot of the same people, and we got to talking about mutual friends and aquaintances. I asked after a few people I had lost track of and he mentioned that he had run across an old friend of mine on MySpace. So I decided to look him up......
I am shocked becuase I discovered that this boy (well, man now) that I have known since the 1st day of my 1st grade year (Mrs. Newman introduced us when he came by to say hello)has gone one and is working hard to live out his dreams!
I am so happy for him and at the same time floored! He was my FIRST boyfriend, my FIRST kiss and my FIRST male friend to my memory and I just lost track of him! Last time I talked to him was shortly after I got engaged and I was tracking down friends I wanted to have at my wedding. We didn't have a long conversation at the time and he seemed kinda lost. I had worried about him and how things would resolve with his family and his parents and so many little details but now....well, everything seems to be going well for him!
I wish I had the passion to live out all the little dreams I have! When I was younger I used to be in all the plays, sing in the chior, god I loved singing! and now....I barely seem to do anything that I used to do then!
Anyway! Three cheers to a guy everyone underestimated (including me)! I want to call up the people that bullied him in gradeschool and middle school and ask them what they are doing in their lives!
I have to tell you though, it is really hard to look at publicity shots of a person I remember as a boy in sandles with a buzzed haircut, rat tail at the back, wearing a blue mesh tank top and shorts in the 7th grade and not laugh! I guess we have all come a long way!
