Well, the religious wackos tried to advance Intelligent Design too and they got smacked down, so we'll have to see what happens with this. The problem is that this issue is literally a matter of life and death. It also represents core values in mortal conflict and that kind of thing produces martyrs if it spins out of control. Roe vs Wade will probably not be reversed nation-wide, but it will fail in those locales where the fundies are most entrenched. We have to remember that there are millions of women who find themselves on the other side of this issue than us progressives and feminists. They are more organized because they usually meet more than just once a week on Sundays. It's not just the good-old boys that put the heat on abortion rights.

I can't really speak that well to this issue, especially since I used to be an evangelical and it looks likely that I'll never be a father. The family values set is not kind to people like me, unless I recant. I've had little experience with a progressive group that really acts like a family, so it is a double whammy for me to go pariah. I'm sure there are millions of others out there that live a life enjoying their freedoms with little beyond themselves for support, only to be crushed and subsequently vacuumed up by these mega-churches with their love of the end times and familial promises. The sheer mass of their numbers and doings has a way of deforming the political landscape into a kind of bowl that sucks things into it. It's going to be a challenge to stay out there way in the years ahead. Well, enough of that hole of consideration I worked myself into.

Regards,

I respect that there are woman who believe strongly in value families. I just wish they would do something more constructive with their time! I believe the best way to get a message across is to lead by example!

oh, about intelligent design! I believe someone needs to point out that there is a difference between intelligent design and creationism.

I also wish that people would remember the founding fathers for what the were, diests, not puritanical christians!
