CEJH Needlework on Etsy.com

Sometimes you need to try something just to see if it might be something you are good at and like doing. My mom told my about a website called Etsy.com that was designed for handmade and craft items. The huge advantage of Etsy.com is the low listing and commission costs which normally prevent handmade craft items from being listed on sites like ebay since the margins are so small anyway.

After research, pricing, experimenting, designing and finally deciding it was worth a go I decided to put together 18 kits, 9 of each of the designs I have currently, and post them on Etsy. Then I got Kurt to test a kit which was a really good thing because we discovered that the floss usage generated by my design program was inaccurate.

For this to make money I need more designs and I need people interested in what I do for it to become something more then a hobby but it is a place to start. Anyway, it has cost me less then $40 to start which is damn cheap for a business venture type thing.  All I need to do is sell 4 units to make my money back Anyway, check me out at:

Also, I have an interview Tuesday with a women that makes quilt kits for a living and sells them online. She is looking for someone to cut fabric and assemble kits. It is order fulfillment with attention to detail and she is worried about people understanding you are lifting bolts of fabric and working over a craft cutting table all day. Since I did the same thing in VINYL (heavier then CLOTH) I am not worried. Cool job to get since I might learn things that would help me in my own pursuits. You can check her store out here:
