[ CHAPTER 5 - Your Call ]
Kei was about to leave when he called her up again.
“Akina-chan~ Please take this.” Kei cheerfully handed her a nice wrapped box.
“What is this?” Akina took the box with a confused look at Kei.
“It’s your birthday, right? Happy 14th birthday! This is my gift to you~”
“Eh?! When did you buy this?”
“When we went shopping together, I bought this secretly since you were busy looking at some…things.”
“But we just met..??”
“It’s no big deal! To tell you the truth, I feel like we’ve been friends for sooooo long! Anyways, gotta go~ it’s already…11:59PM!”
“What about it?”
“It’s just 1 minute away before your birthday ends! Uwaa~ Lucky, na! I gave you a gift before your birthday ends! Jya! I really need to go now~ See you next time!”
“Un..Jya,ki wo tsukete!” Akina shouted. Hoping that he heard it.
“Hai! Same to you~!” and Kei dashed off.
After arriving at their house, Akina opened Kei’s gift. She received a cute music box. She listened to it for a while. After that, she went directly to her parents to tell them that she’s already back from outside.
“So, did you like your birthday party, dear?” Akina’s mom, Mizukawa Haruna asked with a smile.
“Un! It was really great! Arigatou, Okaa-chan, Otou-chan!” Akina didn’t just receive gifts from her parents and her bestfriend. She received gifts from their maids, their butler, her admirers and fans, and also from some of his parents’ work friends.
“It’s good to hear that you enjoyed it.” Akina’s dad, Mizukawa Hiroshi said. Akina’s parents gave her each a gift. They told her that she could open it already, so she did. From her mom, she received a knitted cellphone strap which says ‘Itsumo Ki wo Tsukete! Ganbarou ne!’.
“Aw~ Okaa-chan~ Arigatou! I remember, you were busy knitting something since last week. Is this the one you’ve been busy with?” Akina looked at her mom, hoping inside that it is.
“Hai~! I know that you know that I seldom get busy with other things aside from work that’s why I thought that I should set aside work for some time and get busy for you.” Akina’s mom said while she slowly ran her fingers in her daughter’s hair. She was so happy to hear that from her mom. Akina then opened her dad’s gift. She was so happy when she received a digital camera! Even though she can buy it using her sky-is-the-limit credit card or ask her parents to buy it for her instantly, she doesn’t want to. She even got happier when she knew that it was the newest, dual screen digi-cam that she has been wanting since the day it was released.
“Otou-chan!! Arigatou for your gift~ It really rocks! I’m extremely happy!! Mom’s gift rocks, too!” She said in English. Her parents were shocked all because of the ‘rocks’ word.
“Say, Akina-chan? Are you into rock music now?” her mom asked, looking at her with an eyebrow up.
“Nope~ I know what you’re talking about~ I already knew that word a long time ago but I can’t really say it---just now. I’m sorry if you don’t like it…” Akina said as she looked down.
“No, dear, it’s okay. Really! At least you’re starting to express yourself more in front of us.” Her mom said.
“Yeah, it’s really cool you know~” her dad said. Akina was shocked after her father said the word ‘cool’ in English. A few moments later, Akina’s cellphone rang.
“Ah! Okaa-chan, Otou-chan, please excuse me.” And gave a bow.
“Sure!” her parents said in unison. Akina went to a place quiet. She went to their garden.
“Hai, moshi moshi~?” Akina could hear some really loud noises but no one was answering.
