yesterday my aunt Karen took me to visit my grandma in Simsbury, CT. it was a pleasant visit, and we toured an assisted living facility where she and her husband are thinking of moving. then when we got back, there was a mention of an old cedar trunk in the basement with pictures and belongings of my uncle Terry. he graduated from West Point 1st Regiment, First Class A1 (which basically means that he was brilliant and had a high GPA). everybody loved him, he died in 1980 on the night of my uncle Jimmy's wedding when their car was hit by a drunk driver. i didn't know him at all. so we went down there to look at his stuff, and my Grandma and aunt were feeling very emotional, she brought out a whole bunch of other photos of our huge family (she had 7 children). and then she showed us her wedding dress from 1942. and then ... she gave it to me. amazing.
Steve and Karen took me to the Willington Pizza House, which was on Good Morning America for their exotic pizzas, and the owner gave me an autographed t-shirt. he was very honored, said it was his first request for a signed shirt. the pizza was great by the way! then back home where Jimmy was waiting to eat brownies and ice cream and talk. he will be my ride to NC, and we are going to stop in Trenton, NJ to try to see the Ringling Brothers Circus!
today my aunt bought me some UConn apparel and we are going to Jimmy's for a cookout later. family is awesome!
