One of the reasons Demyx was always broke (besides the obvious spending) was that he had a bit of a guilty conscience.
Normally, one would not think these things were connected, but considering he left home at thirteen and ended up joining a gang at fifteen, it wasn't too surprising that someone who had grown up adoring his family might feel kind of bad about it all. He knew they were probably worried, but he'd worked pretty hard to keep his real name out of any records that they could use to find him. Obviously, he'd found out that some people didn't reject mutants, but he wasn't sure if his parents would or not so he still didn't say anything.
This was, in fact, a very dumb mentality, but it was what Demyx thought.
Taking what he managed to save from the tip money he'd gotten, he stuffed it into an envelope, sealed it, stuck a stamp on it and put it in the box without a return address.
