Location: Out by the lake
Time: Afternoon, just after classes
Content: Jinx is drawing. Come sneak up on her!

Jinx had found herself a quiet spot by the lake to draw. It was a hobby she'd always enjoyed, and she was fairly good at it. More importantly, the act of putting a pencil to paper and simply creating something made her feel good. She'd taken a few drawing classes over the years, but mostly she just practiced, and did what she could to emulate artists she liked without copying their work. A particular way of shading here, a type of pencil stroke there - all of them helped Jinx improve.
Jinx held no delusions about having a promising career in art. Even people who were much more skilled than her struggled to make a living. The term 'starving artist' existed for a reason and she knew it. Even so, she wouldn't let go of the hobby. All it meant was that she wasn't going to make it into an occupation. Aside from, perhaps, drawing commissions around the school for some pocket money.
The pale pink-haired girl wasn't absolutely certain of what she wanted to do as a career, but what she did know was that she didn't want to be some loser criminal. And for now, until she knew for sure what she wanted to do, that meant doing things the legit way. Commissions were as good a way as any to do that. It wasn't as if she'd stand much of a chance getting a part time job anywhere except for maybe a record store or Hot Topic.
Using the lake as a reference, she decided to draw a picture of mer-people in a lagoon. She was so caught up in her drawing that she didn't even notice the footsteps approaching her.
