If I do something wrong, please tell me. (newbie here). :O candymusalina August 11 2010, 05:47:48 UTC
Jessie was only slightly nervous. It wasn't all the time that she wasn't attempting to steal something with James, but it was admittedly easier with one person less ( ... )

It's all good, man. 8D! fly_like_pie August 11 2010, 06:15:23 UTC
The two appeared to connect with the same process of thought: Pie. It was all the Pie Maker allowed himself to think of, but he definitely could feel the cracks in the weak wall of concrete. Chuck was always there, lurking, making scenarios that made The Pie Maker want to drop everything and return to her. But--

Then, suddenly at the corner of his eye, he saw movement.

After setting the dough down on the table, he returned his procedure after a brief moment of investigation. It wasn't so much "investigation" as it was "assuming it is just Digby." The Pie Maker whistled, following in another assumption the dog would enter the kitchen.

Jessie froze at the sound of the expectant whistle. She hadn't noticed anyone else in the kitchen. Then again, all her attention was focused on those delicious looking pies.

She straightened up from her steady half-crawling, half-crouching, ready with an ad hoc excuse. The man who had whistled seemed mildly surprised at her appearance, his eyes going straight to her hair.

They always did that.

"Hi! I'm a TV news reporter!" Jessie cheerfully said.

Jessie was correct, that hair was what The Pie Maker first noticed. It was the sore thumb of the kitchen; it was the misplaced in a row of alphabetical books; it was the cake in line with other favorable pies. The Pie Maker could not help but pass judgment, displaying a raised brow and crossed arms.

"TV news reporter, huh?" He echoed while fully turning in the woman's direction. The Pie Maker also could not help but quickly question her intentions... and lack of equipment.

"TV news reporters usually have microphones to wave around, right? And people filming mentioned news reporter?" And The Pie Maker clearly observed not one of those items were present.

Jessie's smile never wavered. "Yes, but you see, I'm just... scouting the area before the rest of my crew arrives."

She didn't really know if news reporters "scouted the area" before filming, but if anything went wrong, she could just quickly snatch a couple pies and run away.

"I'm reporting for the Pie Channel!" Jessie quickly said. "And, um, before we proceed with any interviews, I'll need a few of your pies to take with me back to headquarters. For examination and taste-testing."

The Pie Maker's uncomfortable and awkward expression did not waver as well, as he remained suspicious to the news that was this news reporter's visit. The possibility of this being what normally happened around here, while one is pre-occupied with the crafting of pie, seemed to rise into certainty the more he thought about it. The Pie Maker had already stumbled into a few situations that were out of the ordinary, so he could believe that this woman was a news reporter "scouting the area" before her crew would arrive.

"You can have a slice while you wait."
He was reluctant to say "all of the pies", which he could not eat himself.

Jessie caught herself just as she was about to protest. One slice? Just one slice?! Who did this guy take her for, one of those diet freaks?

Then again, it was pretty nice of him to offer... she'd steal something for James later, she decided.

Jessie accepted a slice of cherry pie and carefully took a bite, slowly chewing. Her face lit up.

"'Dish ish rearry gud!" she said through the mouthful of pie. Jessie quickly inhaled the rest of it, her rising impatience settling down as her hunger was sated. Before the man could react, she had gathered a few pies up in her arms (creating a rather sticky mess) and was backing to the exit.

"I'll be taking these, if you don't mind." Jessie grinned.

The woman's overreaction to her bite did not surprise the Pie Maker, yet every simple compliment or reaction like her's could not help but make him smile. This smile melted into a look of confusion; pies were once here, now gone.

"I don't mind, really..." The Pie Maker did mind.

Jessie stared at him for a brief moment. She had been expecting him to fly into a rage, or loudly protest, or throw a knife at her- anything. Wasn't he aware that she, Jessie of Team Rocket, was a grade-A villain who was about to steal his (presumably) precious pies?

"Good!" Jessie finally blurted out, still balancing the pies. "Then I'll just be leaving now. Just try and stop me! Ahahaha!"

Over-reacting were something The Pie Maker did not find pleasing. Thus, he appeared quite "okay" with the situation, which definitely wasn't something to over-react over. He nodded and shrugged at her somewhat-desperate comment of villainy.

"Go right away, ma'am. Just try not to eat too much, it's upsetting for the stomach."

"Uh..."

Jessie found it somewhat unnerving that this man was hardly concerned about her attempted thievery. The least he could do was frown, or something...

Oh well. Free pies. James was definitely going to be happy.

"Okay. Thanks, I guess," Jessie said uncertainly, exiting with the pies.

The Pie Maker simply watched. As it may have been too late, he made a mental note not, very much emphasized on the not, to let people walk away with free pies. At least, if a Free Pie Day were to stumble along, he would gladly do so.

Yet, the "thank you" may have been the reason he did not moved, simply mouthing "you're welcome" to a woman already gone.

There was nothing to be done, but the Pie Maker was satisfied knowing his pies would be eaten.
