"Hey!" he gushed, shutting the door and locking it, tucking the key in his pocket. "Ready to go?"
Reply
"Yep!" Oh, that was a little too enthusiastic. It caused a little tickle in the back of his throat which he had to clear before walking with Yama back down the hall. "So ya got any idea whatcha wanna get yet?"

He was interrupted, having to turn his head to sneeze into his sleeved arm. What was with the dust in this hallway? What was he saying again? Oh yeah. "Uh, I got stuff on the shelves. So I'd want more than just stuff for the walls."
Reply
Yeah, that was a good idea, and he could maybe get a small lucky dragon statue, or a lucky cat. His dad liked to keep them around because of his whole 'traditional Japanese' stuff, though Yama wasn't sure some of it was really traditional and more his dad catering to American tastes. But it couldn't hurt, right?

He wasn't one of those kids who went to the mall to hang out. He preferred going to a park, a baseball field, a dojo. Malls weren't his thing, though if a friend wanted to go he wasn't going to say no just based off that.

That was the good thing about malls - confined spaces, maps everywhere, and then there were cellphones and points of reference like food courts.
"But if we get separated, meet at the food court."

And the cellphones would work. If he had actually brought his with him. He sort of forgot about it in his dorm.
"Man, when's the bus gonna get here? It's cold." He hopped a little and gave a few punches to keep warm.

"Hey, there it is!" he pointed, and jumped on as fast as possible, heading for the back where the door couldn't let so much cold air in.

He took the tissue and wiped at his nose. "Stupid dust," he mummbled to himself before bringing his legs up and pulling them to his chest to warm up.
After a couple minutes, he felt better, lifting his head to look around, his mood brightened again, showing his usual smile. It was weird, cold never really bothered him that much before. "So do ya like the snow?" He asked, making conversation after his cold spell.

And indeed, it was different. It was like being in a whole other universe or something.
"California is all about the warm weather," he admitted, grinning a bit sheepishly as if that was somehow his fault. "We never got any snow, but the water could get chilly this time of year. I could walk around in shorts, if I wanted to, half the time."

He paused looking out again. "Ya see that." He pointed to a part where the snow was undisturbed, not even the grass was poking through. "That's how it's like at home." He grinned again. That's how his grandpa liked to practice. In the snow. He never understood why, but he loved his grandpa. After he passed away, that's when he decided to take up martial arts too.
