Toris spent most of his time in the library, and today was no exception. He flipped through his textbook, sitting in a corner of the library amidst various textbooks and a few language books he'd finished with--he'd never had access to such things before, but now that he'd found himself with access to them, it had become a bit of a habit to pick up a few new languages each time he went to the library. Too many at once, though, made his head hurt, so he only read a couple a week.

Absorbed in his studying, the cursing and then slamming book startled him, and his own book slipped from the table, landing rather loudly on the ground.

"A-ah, sorry," he replied, automatically speaking German, as it was the last language he'd heard.

Kyouya was startled to find that there was someone else in the library.
He waved off their apology, there was no need to apologize when he slammed a book first. Adjusting his glasses, he studied the other student. He switched to English, assuming that the other student would only speak the two languages. "I wasn't aware that there would be someone else here that spoke German."

Toris dipped his head in apology even so, used to apologizing for things like this to the point he didn't think about it. "Oh, it's my mutation--I can speak any language I hear or read."

He was speaking English now, the same as the other boy; it was only when he noticed the switch that he realized he had been speaking German before. He scooped his book off the floor.

"I don't think I've seen you around here before. Are you one of the new students?" He wasn't asking to serve any purpose other than personal curiosity...The right connections could be a valuable resource.

Though his first impression of the other boy...was mouse.

"I've been here for a little while," Toris said, and then added, just in case the other boy would feel awkward for having made a mistake, "not long, though. How long have you been here?"

Kyouya gave him a slight shrug "Long enough." He moved some of the books out of the way, so that he could see the other boy a little better without the distraction.

"So what should I call you then?" He could always check the database, though if he could avoid the hassle then all the better.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Toris," he said, bobbing his head again a bit like a servant introducing himself. "You are?"

He nodded his head slightly "Kyouya Ootori, a pleasure." Kyouya sighed a little at how Toris reminded him of the servants back home.

"It's nice to meet you, Mister Ootori," Toris said, habit slipping through again. "I'm sorry if I've disturbed your studying."

Kyouya gave him a hard look "Stop that. You do not work for me, do not call me Mister."

He shook his head "Nonsense, If you were disturbing me you wouldn't still be here."

Toris flustered a little, seeming all the more servant-like as he did so. "Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." He paused at the second statement, though. "What do you mean?"

Kyouya gave a small smile at how Toris paused. Maybe this was exactly what he needed to take his mind off of things. "I would have made you leave long before now."

Toris blinked, and felt the nervousness creeping up his spine. "Um, how? Mind control...?"

Kyouya felt a little bit of a sadistic streak, he hadn't actually gotten to play with anyone since he'd arrived. "Why? Would that make you nervous?"

Toris felt the familiar fear, like a mouse before a cat, and slid back in his seat. "I haven't met anyone who can use it," he said, his voice clipped, quiet, wary.

He had to try so hard to keep from laughing at the look on Toris's face. "Would you be scared if you did meet someone that could use it? It's a very powerful mutation."
