Instructions: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you’ve read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes*.
(in no particular order)
1. "Tao Te Ching" (I have a few versions, but I prefer the Gia-Fu Feng & Jane English translation)
2. "Prometheus Rising" by Robert Anton Wilson
3. "Jung and the Tarot" by Sally Nichols
4. "The Art of Happiness" by H.H. the Dalai Lama & Howard C. Cutler, M.D.
5. "Liber Null & Psychonaut" by Pope Pete (Peter J. Carroll)
6. "How to be an Adult" by David Richo
7. "The Bible" (I forgot which version was my favorite a few years ago when I did the "born again, again" thing, but is sure as fuck isn't the KJV)
8. "The Kybalion" by Three Initiates
9. "I Ching" (I have several, but I like the in-depth analyses of Thomas Cleary)
10. "Sexual Energy Ecstasy" by David and Ellen Ramsdale
11. "Six Ways of Being Religious" by Dr. Dale Cannon
12. "The World's Religions" by Dr. Huston Smith
13. "The Dao of Taijiquan" by Jou, Tsung Hwa
14. "Living Midnight" by Jan Fries
15. "Psychic Power" by Uncle Chuckie (Charles Cosimano)
I think that if I had to select 15 books to take with me to a deserted island, this list would be rather different (although about half of them would be on both lists). I had to keep reminding myself that this is a list of "books from my past," as opposed to "books that I'd want to consult regularly in the future."
That was kinda fun. You should try, if you'd like.
* I'm not sure if it's considered cheating, but I'm using my Library right next to me to help me remember some, otherwise I could never remember the exact titles or authors of most books.
