I like how he's doing the same thing, but pretends he isn't via not-so-subtle semantic re-defining. I wonder how much of the populace he's actually fooling with this tactic.
I have mixed feelings on how to best handle this. My reaction is that this is inherently wrong, to detain people for crimes they haven't yet committed, much like the PKD reference, above. Particularly "indefinite detention." OTOH, if someone approached me on the street and said they were going to kill me and my friends with a gun they had in their backpack, I'd prolly do everything I could to physically restrain them. Particularly if he started rifling through his backpack as he's telling me this, and I knew I could take him out before he got the gun out (not unlike the time it takes for these terrorists to concoct and enact a plan). It seems like maybe we should just deport them, barring them from entering the country. Or something similar. But the whole idea of "indefinite detention" seems to be wrong on so many levels. I guess I'm glad he got rid of torture "enhanced interrogation techniques," but still...
