Just when I'd successfully conquered my paranoia, I came across the following video, which came out in November of 2006. One of the biggest surprises for me was how the much beloved Google--a favorite amongst most of my more privacy and computer savvy friends--is perhaps one of the worst companies re: privacy, in that they have a record of every single search (complete with IP address) since its inception.
Unfortunately, like most sinister things, this is being done without the ability of the public to block its processes or effects under the guise of "Safety" & "Security." Once again, this only goes to further prove Xi's Rule Number 1 re: Memes: The more a meme uses terms like "Safety" & "Security," the more sinister it tends to be and the more closely it needs examining. People will do ANYTHING to protect their "Safety" & "Security," and people who know this (e.g., politicians) can get away with anything--often encouraged by the very people who should be against it--by simply attaching these 1st circuit terms to anything they so desire.
