PDX & the Port of Portland hair police

beautifulpyre was recently mentioned in Willamette Week re: the Port of Portland demanding she cover her pink hair while she works at the Powell's outlet @ PDX. Better things have been said about this by others, so I'll only add the fact that I think it is sad that Portland--a city known for being free-spirited, creative, and encouraging expression--is doing this. If anything, PDX should require workers to have weird piercings, tattoos, and pink hair to better welcome and prepare visitors for the whole Portland experience. In a rare moment of activism, I left both a comment in WWeek and filed a formal complaint with PDX re: their policy.
