Since school was cancelled today due to the weather being bad, and tomorrow's classes will be cancelled too (Yay snow~!), I am taking advantage of this time to pack since I am moving out this weekend. Its nice because I dont have to take everything with me like I had to do in the past when my whole family was moving. Thats a pain to pack up EVERYTHING. But since its just me going somewhere, I can pick and choose what I would like to have with me and what I just want to leave here for potential future use. Its also nice because I dont have to buy every single little thing I am going to need in advance, like I did when I moved 6 hours away for school for a year. Since I'm not really moving all that far this time, I can stock up my apartment with smaller things as I go. Its really a very realxed process by comparison.
Things have been emotional on and off at my house. Me and my mom especially are trying to maintain our composure as best we can. She knows that I'm scared. But I know that my parents are here for me to help me through this transition and help me learn more on how to take care of myself out on my own and how to manage my bills (something that makes me particularly nervous).
I've been having weird dreams that are clearly reflecting my fear of the unknown. I know it will all be okay, this is just how I am lol.
Even though I'm scared and nervous. I need to do this for so many reasons. Partially because its sort of like a cleansing. Change is good. Even when its scary, its good. I need a little change. The best part? I will be getting that change, I will be getting the things I am seeking from this decision, and I will still have my family close enough so that if I need to come home, I can. If I want to meet my mom for lunch somewhere, I can. If I want to go spend the day with my family, I can. And thats wonderful. When I lived 6 hours away, I couldnt do that.
I've got a good thing going with the details of my move and it helps to keep me calmer than I might have been if the circumstances were different.
I have everything for my vintage Alice in Wonderland bathroom, which I'm really excited for. I know its just a bathroom, but I love themes.
My kitchen is red and black with white accents which I have turned into a predominantly Mickey Mouse theme with other Disney stuff for dishware plus Red and Black Asian dishes for my more formal dishware. I also have lots of Asian paper napkins. The subtle Asian hints in the kitchen provide a transition to the living room which is right by the kitchen.
The Asian theme is then really present in my living room where my colors are red and white with black accents. I'm going to buy a painting of white cherry blossoms to hang against my red wall with a black frame and then I'm going to get white fake cherry blossom branches from World Market and buy a pretty vase for them. Just some ideas. It might change lol.
I'm really excited to decorate and really make it my own!
I also got a new bedspread for my room that is really pretty and I'm going to hang a few art pieces in there too.
