You know when you have old friends, by old as in you've know them since the painfully formative in-between adult transition from high school to uni? And although you haven't spent so much face to face time with them you manage to keep in touch in other ways? And because you've kept in touch for so long, it's just as you've known them forever? I have that with my friend
Andrea. He's come to visit me before but there really wasn't very much time then. Thankfully we were able to organise a better meeting this time around.
Andrea popped by the apartment to meet Dan and we chatted for a bit before Dan headed off to work and we went for a little walk down the shoreline to 2nd St. As a fellow beer drinker, he took Dan's recommendation to eat at Simmzy's, where we tried their jalapeño poppers and had my usual fish tacos with my white sangria. Andrea had a bacon burger deluxe (as per Dan's recommendation as well), which he said was delicious.
We took to desserts and coffee down the street at Pandor -been wanting to try this boulangerie for awhile now so it's good to have an excuse! Amidst cappuccino and espresso we shared a lava cake (gluten free!) and lavender macarons (cannot begin to describe how this one tasted in my mouth ♥).
Together, we traipsed about the local indie scene, browsed vintage furniture shops, thrift stores and my fave local vegan choc shop. There were plenty of things I wanted to buy at the thrift shops but we're (STILL) on the post-move organisation phase at the flat so new acquisitions will have to wait. There was this urban style shop that had these leather furniture and home pieces marked with the logo
MCM. I have not heard of this until now. The leather pillows I saw were quite smart looking.
I also got to take more snaps of the city scene. I've always been fond of street art and there is a profusion of it here in Long Beach.
We also got to visit a local chocolate shop -my fave here in town and got me a chocolate+maca covered banana and my usual Cake S'more. I couldn't help but notice their selfmade amplifier. Dan is into making his own amps as well so now I can't help but find these things more relevant now. He's been pestering me to post about his projects which I find a little boring...but perhaps it'll be a challenge to my creativity. I'll write about it one of these days but meanwhile I leave you with more snaps from the rest of the day with my friend.
