I don't know how I could have made that trip enjoyable. This all occurred in the first 10 minutes. I just wanted to leave after that but we continued on after I had gotten another paddle. I must say, kayaking rapids was fun and I didn't fall in for the next 5 hours. My back was the only sore part on me, as the rest of the pain was topical I could not feel it.
My flip flops were dead. One ended up gone after the second capsize (which occurred when trying to tow my kayak and me across the river to a real bank). The lady at the canoe place was nice enough to give me a pair and proceed to tell me how in april her and her husband go out there to cut limbs and it's even colder. I didn't care, every moment in open air was killing me. I continued to smile like the trooper I am.
Would I mind all this on a warmer day? Nope, not at all. The freezing water made everything worse, and being cold air outside didn't help. Did I mention I was in shorts and a tee shirt with only flip flops on?
Definitly have to plan this earlier next year.
