"You can't keep running. One day they will catch up." Cameron threads her fingers in his hair - he swipes her hand away and fixes the strands she pushed out of place - and then she takes a step back. She glances behind her, giving her a clear view of her dark hair, shiny, gleaming in the sunlight.

He squints at her, shades his eyes. "I know that."

"We should attack them first."

"I know," he says again. "But mum-"

"You are John Connor. This is your fight, not hers."

"You say that," he replies, "but this thing. It's just as much her fight as it is mine. She's been doing this a long time, Cameron."

"But it is up to you to finish it."

He sighs and rubs at the bridge of his nose. "I want to live, Cameron. Can't you understand that? For a part of my life, I want to be normal. I want to be a normal guy, with school and homework and girls and everything. I wish you could understand that."

Cameron's tongue darts out and she runs it over her lips.

He shrugs. "Look. It's not your fault. I know that. But give me a break for once! I want to stop running and I want a normal life. And to do that-"

"You have to fight," she finishes.

"Exactly. So stop trying to tell me it's my duty. I know. And I don't have a choice if I want that normal life."

Cameron pats him gently on the arm, though her expression is void of any human emotion. He doesn't know whether that's a good or bad thing. She looks him straight in the eyes.

"Let's fight then."
