In the most recent X-Men movie, a 'cure' is found for the mutations that cause the X-Men to have extraordiary powers. Magneto is angered and offended by this news because he takes it as mutants being seen as a 'disease' that need to be cured. Since the first movie I have been able to see where Magneto is coming from, his cause is just, although the means in which he attempts to achieve his goals are unjust (killing people), that is what makes him the villain, and Professor Xavier the good guy, Magneto and Xavier are fighting for the same cause, mutant equality, by different means.
The issue in X-Men 3 can be reflected in the real world, when looking at the different people in our society. The mutants are not a disease, they are simply different. Diffrent from the people in power that is. What makes the mutants different has a genetic basis, just like what makes us ALL different. There is no "cure" for being white, black, homosexual, blue eyed, brown eyed or blonde. If someone said that there was a sure for any one of my genetic traits I would be pretty offended too. Magneto's anger is understandable. That's what makes a good movie, and a good art piece, because it is something that challenges our outlook on society.
