it's been a long week, but not an altogether bad week. although it certainly has been a week of brainlessness on my part. i took the train to boston, and then the morning i was to fly to DC, i realized i didn't have my license. so i had to take the train. an 8 hour train ride, but it wasn't as bad as i expected. i caught up on work emails and read some of a book i bought in minnesota.

friday katie and i attended fernando's funeral. afterwards, we went to diego's house and many of their close friends were there. his mother, perpetually wonderful, said how happy she was to have me there and that she missed me and katie since her and diego split up. everyone drank like crazy, we danced to abba's fernando in english, spanish and svenska. at around 5:30am we passed out in various spots around the house. the consensus was that it was a proper send off. i hope the police can find out what happened to him. it's a straight up law-and-order mystery and gets me fired up whenever i think about it.

so as for my third act of brainlessness (the first being slicing my finger, and then forgetting my license - which i hope to god work won't give me a hard time on my expense report)... i booked a flight home to dc on saturday in order to make it home for my sister-on-law's 10th anniversary celebration. right after i had just talked to my sister about a tropical storm. for the same day. needless to say, my flight was canceled and i missed the party. hah. i was harboring a wicked hangover, and i was rather grateful not to have to travel.

next weekend, we head out to NJ to visit bryan's sister. i think we'll bring the bikes. woo!
