I don't know, as I am posting this, if I will be able to complete the entry. My laptop says its heat sinks are 45 and 60 degrees C, the GPU is 72 degrees, and the keyboard itself is about the temperature of a ceramic cup holding a freshly poured cup of tea. So damn glad I am on the Island this week for my annual drill, where it only reached 91 this afternoon and then quickly came back down to a much more manageable 86. Everett was no nicer than Lynnwood.

One of the many things I left the dang Midwest for was to get away from foot-blistering-hot, muggy days in July. (so I went to the Mediterranean and the Middle East instead) (wait, that's not what I...)

I heard that in Austin, it's topped 100 for fourty days in a row. The hottest I've ever seen (and commuted about forty miles through) is 112 a couple years ago. My body has adapted to it to a surprising degree. The first couple years, I saw spots. The next couple, I wasn't rational until I dunked my head in cold water. Now, it's just a little uncomfortable.

Hot, yeah, but it's the humidity decorticator July 31 2009, 02:41:18 UTC
My grandparents lived in in Eagle Mountain. 120 degrees (what shade?) was pretty normal, over 80 at four AM. Humidity was about 5%. I loved it, and had to stay outside because my grandmother kept the swamp cooler going and it was just too cold indoors. When I was about 14 we would throw a jug of Hawaiian Punch into the sand buggy and drive for Kaiser's Wells, spending the whole day driving around and hiking the desert. Sidewinder tracks and barrel cactus. I miss that.
