This last road trip to Amarillo was significant to me. It represents the last time that I'll "return" to Amarillo to see any of my grandparents -- or to have any reason at all to stop there on the way to something else. No more or less inviting than Abilene or Tulsa.

Since scorpionis has been daily blogging our vacation adventures, I haven't had much to add. Today, we split up so that Zoe and I could avoid yet another ride along the gut-thumping, washboard tracked, diagonal speedbump road. Yay! For those keeping track at home, scorpionis has made contact with her grandmother, and they have apparently hit it off very well. Despite whatever fears I may have built up over the years, watching parents drag their children through airports as I traveled alone on business, taking Zoe with us on our little trip was really an excellent experience.
