weekend on a monday
well my friends, it's been a long stretch but i finally got a weekend. been mostly at CSS working on various albums. finished harmonies and started mixing trevor cole's EP. finished harmonies on nathan hawkins' EP. added some harmonies, mandolin, harmonica, and lap steel to forest's LP. started a new LP project for a guy out of san antonio named jorge rodriguez. he's a folky kind of songwriter with just solo arrangements. so we brought in some studio players and layed down all 12 songs in 2 days. tomorrow and wednesday we are recutting the final acoustic guitars and vocals, and that will be almost it for tracking. we're going for kind of a bob dylan production, so not a lot of overdubs piled on. just some extra percussion (which is also done), vocal harmonies, and such. the album really came out much more diverse than any of us expected. it's going to be really cool.
also redid almost all the guitars with keith for cody lawson's record that was lost. progress on that is moving fast. had a couple really good shows at threadgill's too. white ghost shivers are hilarious, and j.d. souther was a trip. hearing him play all the eagles, dixie chicks, and linda rondstadt hits and realizing that he wrote all of them was pretty wild.
spent a couple nights at john's place. good times. just hung out and played games mostly. spent forever at best buy yesterday and had delicious lunch at an irish pub. irish coffee + corned beef and hash with eggs = awesome. then last night i hung out with scott at spider house, in honor of his return to the hill country.
today, i don't know. i have a few things that i need to do and a few things that i want to do. if anyone wants to hang out today/tonight, i'm down.
