life update, kinda

following suit of everyone doing updates on the state of their lives, i think i'll do my own.

my life = work. that's really most of what i've been up to the past couple months. CSS has been going well and i started my first mix there today for trevor cole's 4 song EP. mainly focused on one song and got a huge chunk of it knocked out. it's almost ready for polishing, and the first song always takes the longest. i'm impressed that our computer can handle (warning: nerdspeak ahead) an entire mix worth of tracks - i'd guess around 30 or so- with a bunch of EQ, compression, and FX, including two convolution reverbs with zero latency mode on, without me having to raise the hardware buffer past 128 samples. you hear me? 128 sample latency on an entire mix. sexy.

anyway i'm sure that means nothing to most of you. point is, it's going well and the studio is surprisingly powerful considering its cost to put together and its cost to clients. and it will only get better once we can afford to start adding new gear.

threadgill's has been about the same. still enjoying the outdoor work and good food. there are also so many attractive people that work there it's ridiculous.

aside from work, well, i had a few days off last week which was nice. i got to hang out with lauren (former goby blue drummer) and do trivia night at the flying saucer, which was a lot of fun. hung out with chase, who is now in italy, the bastard. hung out with jackie, always a good thing. and the most exciting was that i got to hang out with john, who had moved the day before from lubbock to san antonio with his girlfriend and dog. pizza, beer, and many rounds of dominos were involved, and it was glorious. we briefly mentioned finding a bassist and drummer and reforming goby blue. that would be fun. for now it will probably be more like the two of us just hanging out and jamming, but perhaps some day we will get back to the stage.

i met a girl who i clicked with for a couple nights and then didn't. so i'm heeding carolyn's warning that she has crazy written all over her. coming from carolyn, that is an ENORMOUS red flag. she and melissa both advised that i persue another female that i recently saw for the first time in at least a year. seems like we always click great and then plans fall through and i fall off the radar for a while. then repeat next year. however this time i've had no luck getting back in touch. i think i blew it with her one too many times, which is a shame because she's totally cool. one of these days i'll figure out how this whole dating deal works. sadly there is no mathematical formula. that i can do. or i could get a dog.

i don't know, i guess there's not much else to report. i am excited that scott is finally coming back to austin next week. i am also totally excited about the new metroid game that nintendo announced the other day. and yes, apparently i do find that important enough to mention in my life update. i am lame in the face. goodnight.
