I adopted a kitten today. Her name... Liberty. How ironic that it would happen on September 11th.
Anyway, I like the name "Liberty" so it shall remain her middle name (I was planning on doing that anyway unless the name was butt-ugly). So I announce to the world Mikaru Liberty Quinlan, born approximately June 30th of 2006.
When I went to the pet shelter, she was in a room all by herself. The first room had plenty of adorable little meow-meows, and I was smitten by them all. But before I was able to interact with any of them, the adoption agent brought us into another room. The room had three large cages, but only the top one was inhabited. I just saw a little tiny head laying in wait... then it perked up. And I mean perked! This cat was wildly playful, I fell in love immediately. The woman held her and the entire time, little Liberty was begging for attention. She's a nose-biter! And she boxes, haha. At only two pounds, she's a tiny terror.
Unfortunately though, I have to wait until she's three pounds before she can get spayed. After that, she needs a 5-day period of rest, so it may be about 2-3 weeks before I have a companion. Sigh, and I was all excited. Oh well, I can still visit her 3 times a week at the shelter until then. I'll go on Thursday and take some pics and vids. Cuteoverload.com better be ready!
Not all news is happy though. One of my family's most beloved cat passed away earlier this week. Richie had been with us for 19 years. Although he was shy for about 17 of those years, in the last 2-3 he really made up for lost time. Such an affectionate cat, he became a friend to all of our guests and everyone in the neighborhood. Farewell, my best pal, you will always be in my heart. Forever and always.
