Apologies for the double-post... this news is a lot more happier than the insurance griping I posted an hour ago, and since I didn't want to mix the two, this one is getting its own post.
Through the magic of the internet's series of tubes, I've found the contact information for one of my "predecessors"... BUT... this news is even bigger, better, and mo' awesomer because.... not only have these people been living in Takahashi for the last six months, but they're also staying for the next semester. That means... my predecessors are actually my new coworkers!!!!
And such nice people they are. The one girl I've been communicating with most is Alisha (New Zealand) and she's already offered to take me out on a tour of the city!! :D :D :D
And of course, I've been hitting her up for tons of information (without getting many spoilers). Basically, this place is a haven for me. She spoke 0 Japanese when she arrived and she's been doing just fine there. She also says that it's very foreigner-friendly as far as food goes... there's a McDonald's, a KFC, and a Mos Burger in town. Sugoi!!!!!!!!!! ::spirals down in a whirlwind of happiness and merriment:: The town is small enough to be bike-able on the beautiful days, but she says on the unbarably hot days, I'm going to be glad that I have the car. I would assume same goes for the snowy days.
Checklist Items
- got my yen... still think I should have electronically-transferred it... aw well, whatever
- found a buyer for my car... ::crosses fingers that it goes through::
