Back on the Beat
An update on my AnimeBoston predicament...
Well, I spoke to Sue (the head dispatcher) the other day and we talked about how it's unfortunate that a dispatcher senior to me is going away right at the same time as AB. Sue said she'd make some calls to the part-timers and find out what's happening and then she'd get back to with an answer. She knows it's an all-or-nothing deal with me (since I can't just go for one day... well, I could, but not as staff) and that I'm an assistant director, so it's not like I can just decide the week-of that I can't go.
So she was gonna set to work on that and here I'm thinking I won't have an answer until the end of the month. I spoke to her again this morning and she says "I spoke to the Deputy and we both agree that you should go. You never ask for time off and we know you planned this like a year in advance, so don't worry about it, we'll move some things around and get the coverage."
So hoorays... I'll be there all 4 days. Good news for me, bad news for whoever the new full-time dispatcher is ::looks at Doug::
heehee, Doug and I have been talking and we're gonna try our hardest to make sure that he gets as much of the weekend off as possible should he start working with me. As for our two-week trip to Japan next year... that one is gonna be tricksy... we'll deal with it when it comes ^____^
