Hey kiddos, I've got something special for you tonight. Color, it seems to be everywhere these days. I was wondering though: Just how popular is this whole color thing. Thanks to the good people at Google, and a half-hour of my free time, I've created the worlds first Color Popularity Report. This is what I did; I put in the names of famous colors to see how many pages actually have some reason of using a reference to that color. The following are pages found for each word:
white......281,000,000
red........201,000,000
black......180,000,000
blue.......152,000,000
green......140,000,000
brown......103,000,000
yellow......76,300,000
pink........70,100,000
gray*.......68,200,000
orange......51,500,000
tan.........43,600,000
navy........30,800,000
purple......19,600,000
crimson......5,770,000
magenta......2,910,000
maroon.......2,910,000
teal.........2,010,000
cyan.........1,950,000
azure........1,540,000
*note
Gray is both the words "Gray" and "Grey" added together, as a lot of people spell it like it's British cousin:
gray (44,400,000)
grey (23,800,000)
So, as you can see, white is the most popular, followed by red and black for second and third.
To be blunt, I like all colors. Colors are an awesome part of this world that people take for granted far too often. How can you describe a color other than what it is? You can't. Colors are unique and beautiful because they are only what they are. I might be doing something else with colors here in a few days, it'll be a surprise though! =]
