Did a 10k up the tow path under the suspension bridge yesterday. Wasn't feeling too hot as I'd done a swim / 4k night before and paggered it, and had eaten far too late. But all was going fine until about 3/4 in I started getting itchy palms, which is the starting sign of an allergic reaction, just like I get from the nuts.
Run turned to jog just to get back, and waited for the missus to finish, and things started to kick off. Fortunately I had a couple of anti-histamines, but had forgotten cash (doh!) and were wrong end of town on bicycles.
Fialta fortuantly remembered that
DanG and
Fionnagirl live in Hotwells, and it transpired the WFLRP refs were doing downtime, so borrowed a tenner off WFLRP Steve and the lovely
Griff_Wolf gave us a lift to BRI.
Was seen pretty quickly, an injection of more anti-histermine and steroids sorted it out, but was kept in for observation until 23:00, which, being the BRI graveyard shift turned into 01:00 as the doctors were kept busy with the pissed-up human effluence.
All ok now, just a bit knackered. Just wondering what triggered it? It has happened to me once before, same spot, similar time of year (must have been training for the Bristol Half). Guess there must be something down there this time of year I don't like, but its bizarre, as I've gone down there on dozens of runs before. Any ideas?
