It's business time!

Idol fans are getting really grumpy and protective already. Like here, for example. It starts off with everyone mourning David Hernandez's too-early departure from the show and evolves into a David A. vs. Everyone Else war.

I honestly don't know yet who the best singer on the show is. I have favorites, sure. But, as always, I like them more for their personality (though I think they are very talented as well!). I do think that David H. was one of the best singers on the show, and that he totally did not deserve to leave. It's hard this season. All the singers are very, very different. I guess that can be said about every season, but I think that it's even MORE like that this year. I really feel like ALL of the contestants stand out. Look at the difference between Michael Johns and Amanda Overmyer, Kristy Lee Cook and Syesha Mercado, David Archuleta and David Cook. No two singers are the same. This is usually a situation that occurs when we hit Top 5. Sometimes Top 6. But Top 12 already? That's pretty cool. There's something for everyone. Maybe that's why they keep shoving "THE BEST SEASON EVER!" down our throats. That "fact" is starting to make more and more sense. This is a really talented group, and they are all so, so different.

Anyways, I don't think we should all be hatin' on other people just yet. I guess I already blew that (Josiah Leming, anyone? XD Oopsie.), but I'm tryyying to be better. There are people that I like and people that I don't like, but I can usually admit when someone has a decent voice, even if they aren't one of my favorites. I mean, I can't stand Katharine McPhee, but I'm not going to deny the fact that she's got a great voice. As much as I wish I could. Ugh.

But yeah, I don't know. I guess I just want to say that I don't know who the best singer is. And that's weird. I guess I'll figure it out in time. Hopefully my unjustified dislike of some people won't hide that from me. XD

In other news, I may be developing a new obsession. It's in the earliest stages EVER right now. So that's exciting. Here's the story: my friend Holly has been encouraging us (my buddies at school) to watch Flight of the Conchords for a while now. She has the DVD of the first season, and she's been like, "You guys will LOVE it! You have to watch it!" I wanted to watch it really bad, 'cause I've heard it's really funny. In fact, I don't think I've heard one negative thing about it. But we started watching (or, for me, re-re-re-re-rewatching XD) Stella, and everyone has wanted to finish that before we start another show. We've been watching it at different paces, though. Kyle, Dave, Brian and I finished the whole season. But Holly and Jessica have two more episodes to go. That's just because we haven't been able to ALL get together to watch it.

Anyways, we finally all decided to start Flight of the Conchords last night. We watched two episodes: Sally Returns and Bowie. And oh my gosh. I really like this show, guys. And I think I'm really developing a crush on Jemaine. I'm so excited to watch the rest of the season. Hee!

Oh, and because I'm a loser and feel the need to constantly connect all of my favorite comedians, here we go:

Eugene Mirman plays Jemaine and Bret's landlord in Flight of the Conchords. That pretty much makes all the connections I need. Not only is Eugene Mirman pretty awesome, but if you look at his Myspace, you will see that he has on his top friends Leo Allen, Demetri Martin, and Michael Showalter.

Additionally, Kristen Schaal plays Jemaine and Bret's obsessed fan. She currently stars in the online series Horrible People, which was created by and co-stars AD Miles. From AD Miles, I can totally solidify the connection. AD Miles was not only in Wet Hot American Summer (written by David Wain and Michael Showalter, starring Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black, among others), but he was also in two episodes of Stella. He also appears in many episodes of Wainy Days. And he is a really groovy dude.

And if you want a couple of far-fetched connections (which I TOTALLY DO!), AD Miles was in the Pilot episode of Stella. Rashida Jones was also in that episode. And, of course, Rashida Jones was Karen on The Office. Therefore, Flight of the Conchords is connected to The Office. I'm on a roll! John Krasinski plays Jim on The Office. He used to be an intern for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Therefore, Flight of the Conchords is connected to Conan O'Brien. BUT ONE MORE! Conan O'Brien used to be a writer for Saturday Night Live (and The Simpsons, but I don't watch that too much). Therefore, Flight of the Conchords is connected to Saturday Night Live! YAYY!

Whoo. That was really pathetic. But it makes me quite cheerful! Just the fact that Flight of the Conchords is connected to Stella on multiple levels makes me happy. Intermingling obsessions FTW! :D

With that, I think I'm going to end this post and work on homework. I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend. Bye for now!

yay, flight of the conchords, comedy, american idol, stella, dork, obsessions
