Distractions; Colossi

"2,272: Number of text messages sent and received by the average American teen every month, according to the Nielsen Co. - almost 80 messages a day." - source: Time magazine.
Sometimes I feel like the only one who will delay responding to texts if it's not absolutely necessary. Seriously, cut out the distractions and enjoy what you're doing. If I get a call when driving I still pull over (if the road I'm on requires any awareness), and I never ever compose texts while driving. And I feel like I'm alone. It seems we're convinced that instant communication is worth risking bodily harm.
Speaking of distractions, I hate the ubiquity of ceiling-mounted TVs in bars and restaurants. I don't want to be distracted from the meal I'm enjoying and the company I'm with. Oh btw my library has five fuckhuge ceiling-mounted LCD tvs. One fuckhuge tv displays a video of an aquarium to replace the actual aquarium that was there. And don't get me started on the LCDs in grocery store isles and the animated billboards on highways. They remind me too much of Ray Bradbury's dystopian predictions.
To me, this is insane. We're losing what's real. I pray that some backlash to this ADD-inducing stimulation manifests.

I completed Shadow of the Colossus on hard mode. I. Absolutely. Love. This. Game. I love every minute of it, from the lonely traveling to the empathetic struggle to defeat a colossus to the mixed feelings on their demise. I rarely get interested in video games these days. I long for the the instinct-responsive control, heart racing intensity, and unforgiving difficulty of old. And I haven't been swept up in a video game's story since Final Fantasy X. Shadow of the Colossus is exceptional in that it leaves me feeling wholly fulfilled, with nothing to be desired. I haven't felt involved in a game like this in a long, long time.
I'm listening to its soundtrack as I write. It's stirring, epic, thrilling, and even dizzying at times and yet moody, wondrous, somber, and even unsettling at times. I knew that Kow Otani scored Haibane-Renmei, another soundtrack I adore, and apparently he did the soundtracks for Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and Outlaw Star?! I've seen both of those, and I don't recall anything about the soundtracks... well, I don't recall anything else about them either.
Btw, Haibane-Renmei's soundtrack is better than Shadow of the Colossus's.
