A friend of mine wrote:
I really love the hope inspired by the Barack Obama campaign. Today I passed a group of Obama supporters holding signs and junping up and down on a busy street corner.
I honked for Obama.
And I got all choked up.
Yeah.
I'm not a registered Democrat. This means I can't vote in the primaries, so it really doesn't matter which candidate I support. Because of this I'm really not paying as much attention to the issues as I should, but I really love the feeling the whole Obama campaign gives. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
To which I immediately replied:
It really bothers me that people are voting on Barack because of the 'movement' he is 'inspiring'. First of all, people should already feel inspired by the situation our country is in, secondly it's sad when a country needs a motivator over someone who can actually get the job done. Don't get me wrong, the ideas are great. but can he implement them and be taken seriously all over the world- or will he simply look to others like America's flavor of the term? We need someone in office that diplomats in other countries are already familiar with and are used to dealing with. If Barack wants to run for vice presidency then I think that would be wonderful- but right now, our balance in the world is too fragile to start a movement. It is this hot-headed sort of thinking that will end up making our once allies resent us even more. Barack's main vote is young people who DON'T pay enough attention to issues, and for those of us who have been- this is rightfully alarming.
Whereas he has an almost cult following who has RAISED his campaign money for him, Hillary has spent money out of her pocket. And lots of it! It would be nice to think the people could run our country for us, but when it comes down to it, once the elections are over- who is actually going to be working thru the issues? The person we elect. We want someone who is willing to put their own assets on the line to create a better environment for everyone, not just special interests.
It sickens me how Barack is using the people against themselves, calling this a movement. Even though his platforms are intended for the good of the people- this type of manipulation is brainwashing. Just as religion has been used for generations- this man is smart enough to know what gets people coming back.
I think honestly, Barack should stick to oration and let Hillary do the necessary legwork it's gonna take to get things running efficiently.
Don't be one of the faceless masses... You are smarter than that. Watch some of the debates on YouTube. Clinton keeps scheduling debates to show you what she has already known to be true of Barack behind the scenes of what the masses see. Obama keeps refusing to do debates.
The proof is in the pudding, not the package.
